I need some advice here, my dealer says I am a high-on if I think I can tell the actuator is not working without doing electronic diagnostics. I have read the posts and the actuator DOES NOT move anytime from idle to when the revlimiter kicks in....what is the real story here...

 

Your dealer is a moron.

Make them check it out, and they'll see its not working.

Or do a side-by-side comparism with a NEW CL-S or TL-S and they can't say anything after that...

Do a search on this board, print out all information and bring to the JERK at your dealership and threaten them ! It sounds like it's dead and so is your dead service folks ! It may turn out to be a pain in the ass transaction...

wow, acura is really fucking up with these actuators.

you are now one of MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY members that had to bitch at/threaten/argue with/ embarrass their dealership for their ignorance.

I printed 40 pages of info from this thread, and they told me they dont care...i told them to bring another type S, they said they cant do that cause they wont be able to sell them after we do that

Finally, they did it..they changed the actuator, with the attitiude that, they are only gonna do it because they want to prove to me i am wrong, but when you put the new actuautor on, and he does move, and you hear the click, ITS THE BEST FEELING WHEN YOU WON vs. ACURA!

Man, my dealer gave me no slack at all. They even took the part to fix it off of a Type S in the lot.

I printed out a couple of pictures from Chod's FAQ that showed the actuator open and closed. It feels like a new car again!!!

It's amazing how dealers will treat their customers sometimes. With something like this it takes up more of their time arguing with a customer than it would to just listen to them and give it a look. I guess though after dealing with many customers who aren't as educated about their car's problems it could be difficult.
