Accord V6 Turbo Kit on Acura CL Type s?
Accord V6 Turbo Kit on Acura CL Type s?
This may be a stupid question to ask but I just became very curious after reading several different forums on turbo kits for Acura CL's and v6 Accords. If you're interested then please read what I have to say and my question will be at the end of my rambling
I started on this thread. (I'm sure many of you have already come across it at some point) https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ighlight=turbo
Now this guy claimed that it would fit a 2nd Gen CL. Now I know that's just his word, but this guy has supposedly sold several other items over Acurazine with good results.
I did some quick looking and found a turbo kit for a V6 accord and found this. (Nothing special I know but an example nonetheless) http://xs-power.com/acura-honda-turbokits-16.htm
Now to me, it appears that the headers bolting right up to the block look identical to the set I ordered and installed from XS a while back on my CL. http://xs-power.com/acura-honda-nonturbo-headers-2.htm Even if they're not, Perhaps I could bolt the kit up to the headers that I already have and scrap the down pipe I have installed already. (To avoid making custom piping)
I'm not too familiar on the differences of body designs between the CL's and Accords but what raises the possibility in my mind is the fact that the guy who was selling his custom kit above claimed his would fit a CL. Now whether that's true or not I don't know. But if his kit would, why not the XS one? I would imagine that they would be somewhat similar.
So if you have yet to see the question being asked here, my question is: Would the V6 Accord kit would fit in an 03 Acura CL Type-S. With the ability to use the pre-existing headers if needed. (It's a manual so the engine mount clearance could be the problem there) Any feedback is great.
Thanks!

There are minor variances, but for the most part, it will work. And yes, the headers that you have are the same that is in the turbo kit.

Well I feel as if this went a bit off topic. But I appreciate the responses! Very interesting though. I understand the lack of turbo 2nd gen CL's. Tuning is the largest obstacle IMO on these cars. But if what justnspace posted is true it should really be a breeze to turbo a CL. I'm really not into having a 400 HP FWD car personally. 6lbs of boost seems very moderate to me which is what I would be looking for. If they come out with that system I think I may invest in a kit. lets see... $750 for the ECU tune, $500 for the XS kit. Seems cheap. Plus solenoid, wiring, hoses, the works. I would assume that using this method It could be around $2,500 depending on the turbo kit I bought. I feel like the XS kit is a little cheap in quality...
this is my third time. LOL

It is. The turbos themselves are not known to last.
As far as tuning goes, Ive mentioned this in other threads multiple times. The J&R ECU is great for 3G TLs because they use a CANBUS system. Everything in the car is run through the ECU.
The CL is not the same. Unless you have an automatic CL, it doesnt make sense to spend the $2k on it. You can get a full standalone for less then the J&R ECU.
