Accident today. I was going through the sunpass lane at the toll plaza (automatic toll reader lane, like ezpass cept faster speed limits) so the person in the lane right next to me completely stops and cuts me off. I swerve into the next lane to my right and almost had control but i hit the median. It was a lady in a fucking minivan, she didtn even stop, she looked at me and went through the toll and drove off. I got out of my car as quickly as i could and got a partial plate number. All i have to hope for is that the camera's picked some of it up and the partial plate id helps.

So the tow truck guy tell me the cop must have been in a good mood since he didtn give me a ticket, so i guess its a no fault?

the damage goes as follows as i can tell:

my bottom horn from my intake fell off, my whole side fender is practically gone/or bent , engine compartment is bent, the engine support is cracked, my driver side rim is broken, i need a new tire. I need a complete front nose (bumper supports), need new light house casing

I took pics, i just have to host them somewhere

 

this is exactly what I have been tellin my friends about. People who drive minivans are fuckin nuts. I feel for you man cuz I had a lady do somewhat the same thing to me. middle aged woman, both hands on the steering wheel, we're at a stop light and she guns it, bout 2 cars lengths in front and she cuts me off w/o signaling or anything. I move over to the next lane and look at her and she doesn't think anything of it and I'm sitting there wondering why the hell she cut me off in the first place cuz she switched back into her lane like 3 lights down. 2 days before that I had another lady eating my bumper like she was trying to run me over???? A week before I'm getting on the on ramp to get on the freeway and this lady has a yield sign, she sees me coming, doesn't stop and had the nerve to give me the finger?? WTF is up w/ women and minivans??? Oh yea, hope you get that doucebag and nail her for taking off.

whenever i drive in the states, i always notice that those toll plaza's are a accident waiting to happen. After you pay its like a drag race to the lanes....

 

I've seen a car cut off a tractor trailer and get crushed...kinda funny because the driver in the car was stupid enough to think the truck could slow down.

 

what is this like the 5th or 6th accident this month? I feel your pain. I'm still waiting to hear the final word on my wreck

Holy crap, that sucks. That's why I don't swerve away when shit like that happens unless I'm sure that I can avoid a wreck altogether safely.

In most cases, I just lay on the horn and stand my ground. If they keep moving in, then I'll put 'em into the wall. Nobody is going to accuse me of moving into their lane and tapping their rear bumper. I'm not blind. It's not a tricky situation and cops will see exactly what happened. They might ask me why I didn't try to avoid it. I'll tell them that I panicked and that I thought it would be safer to save myself by spinning them out rather than swerving away and crashing into a wall, killing myself. It's their fault for moving in without checking first.

 

If you hit the van, would anyone have been at fault?


I use automatic tolls a lot, and have the same problem, a stopped/slow car jumps in my lane. It happens at tolls, intersections, in traffic, ...



If you are driving next to a lane with slower/stopped traffic, are you required to slow down to a safe/reasonable speed?

 

Sorry to hear about your ride...I'm just glad that you are alright!!!! When I used to drive a tank: 1985 Suburban, had the family coming home from a movie...and a mini van just stops about 2 car lengths in front of me right before we go into a tunnel. Well since it was raining slightly, I was giving them some space. My 3 ton truck slides right up behind them....but guess what the guy in his wife's new toyoto car is not so lucky, he hits my back bumper with no brakes, bounces back, pushes me up about 3 or 4 feet....then the pin heads up front just cruise off thru the tunnel. The guy behind me has blown both bags, bent the car, creased it from the grille to the top of the windshield. I'm sure he bent whatever type of frame his car had and to make it worse, yeah, no insurance and his wife doesn't know he's out in the car.....is that enough or do I still seem uptight about this episode in my life?

 

Oh yeah, forgot to say that when I got back on the road, the same minivan is just sitting in the road about a mile up, two people just sitting there with a map like they are at home on the couch....and they say that only bad people do drive-by's...

 

You might have been better off just hitting the bitch! Mighta been softer to hit her sheet metal than a concrete median, plus she would've been sideways coming across the lane so it would've been obvious that it was her fault, and I'm sure the camera's would've picked up the whole accident.

 

Thats S Florida for you, most people either try do a runner or if there forced to stop they blame it on you and your mother for causing you to crash into them.

About 3 months ago on a sunday,on 595 i remember seeing 2 guys in the middle lane stoped and in a fist fight, with cars going by on the other lanes.

Southern part of I-95 is worse.

and if you dont have any witnesses it becomes a he said she said BS claim.

I really wish i hit that bitch, my insurance is gonna go up and i cant do shit about it. But on the other hand if i did hit her the accidnet might have been worse to my body because i was going prob 50 and she was going about 5 and i had prob slowed down to 20 before hitting the median.

 

when i get the car fixed i'm gonna try to get rid of it, if i do i'll put the grill for sale, but thats fucked up how fast you wanted to call it.

 

my insurance said that it shouldnt go up since it wasnt my fault, which makes me feel alot better.


anyone know where to get a intake horn, mine was kinda fucked up, just the lower part i think. Can i order them separetly??
