I was talking with a long time friend and Japanese Bistro owner earlier and the subject of cars came up, and so (of course!!!) I brought up Acura.... then she gave me the longest look like WTF WHO??
OHHHH... ( like 2 hours later ) AC-CU-DA (pronounced fast!) It was like she had only heard of Honda before and was stunned.
Does anyone else see problems with Acura's brand image if a lady from Japan doesn't know what the hell an Acura is????
Just a minor thought

Its the fact that in the US, it's hard to look at Toyota, Nissan, Honda and other Japanese automakers as producers of luxury vehicles when they started off the way they did. So in Japan, this wasn't the case and there was no need to differentiate into a Lexus, Acura or Infiniti...

When i still had my PDG CL-S, i shot this japanese wedding. the groom was an engineer for honda. when he got out of the limo, he RAN to my car! seriously, and i guess his friends also worked for honda. they all knew exactly what it was. They were drooling all over my car. He told me that alot of people who are really into cars, want the CL-S in japan. I always park in front of the chapels and alot of the tourists and couples ask me about my car. It is surprising how many japanese people know what the car is. If they dont, I just tell them it is a Saber/Inspire coupe, and they reply with a lot of oooohhh's and aaahhh's.
BTW japanese chicks dig my car!
..but so do the old ladies

It's funny, a lot of people in Japan actually order Acura badges from over here to put on there Honda Integras and stuff like that. I get a few chuckles out of that.
