AC Compressor shuts off (thus AC not working)
Greetings,
No this is not another AC compressor is loud post and I certainly tried the Search feature before bothering everyone. So, after hitting some golf balls today I jumped back in my car and hit the 'Auto' button to get my AC cranking to 70 degrees. I noticed after driving a few miles it was not getting cooler like it normally does. When I turned the AC off and back on I could hear the compressor kicking on for only a few seconds and then nothing. At the same time, the recirc button lights up upon hitting auto and simultaneously cuts off. When I popped the hood, the fans would both cut on for a few seconds with the compressor and then shut down. After ruling out the relays by checking them, I took it to Autozone hoping for a recharge to fix the problem but their employee (who was cool enough to do the recharge for me) and I never got it to where the compresssor would stay on beyond 3 or so seconds (seems to be consistently 3 seconds or so before it cuts off). He mentioned it was likely something under the dash (can't remember if it was the Thermal Expansion Valve) but was curious as to what the experts here could do to help shed some light on it before I have to take it in to get an estimate of the damage. Thanks in advance!!!
