About to join the community

I have come across what I think might be a rare find now a days. I have found a 2003 Acura CL 3.2 with 27k original miles. It's Silver/Black. It was owned by an older couple and the guy has become ill. I have a chance to get it rather cheap. I have read through pages on pages about these cars, and since they share things with the TL, I was on that a while back when I wanted one of those. I would love it if the CL Community could give me any heads up or talk me out of it if it seems like a bad deal. I am a college student currently driving a 2002 Accord Coupe SE 2.3. I have been wanting to step up the power as of lately. The 4-cyl isn't cutting it anymore and since I don't have to drive far for work anymore gas mileage isn't necessarily an issue. Thanks in advance and hope to join you guys soon!
Jason

Biggest question, manual or auto?

Auto... but with such low miles, I didn't think it would be an issue as long as I did an immediate drain and refill with new fluid and possibly added a cooler.

doesn't matter if it has 0 miles on it.. the auto trans is always a problem... if u like to drive fast at all on the reg... u will need to fix it one day.. simple as that..

my 1st rebuild lasted me 26000 KILOMETERS.. so 27000miles doesn't mean much..

the car is likely immaculate tho but what's the price?

I am able to get it for $7,500. Which I think is a deal. It has one spot small spot that needs to be addressed on the exterior, but other than that, it's great. Wasn't the transmission issues more predominant on the CL-S and TL-S?

I payed 7500 for my 01 with 141k.
I say it's a good deal.
Get a 3rd gen trans when you have the extra money.Definitly worth it to upgrade that.

If its not a Type S then $7500 isn't a bad deal but not as good as if it is a type S and the transmission issues affected both CL-S and CL-P's.

Go ahead and have $3k on hand, or either have another transmission on hand to throw in. Cause the tranny is going to go. It's not a matter of if, it's when. But I think you have a good find, go for it.

Well the guy called me as I was walking out of the house to go wrap up the possible deal. He had someone there with the same amount ready to buy. I passed up on it, felt that since I was a college student, I can't afford to have $2k+ on hand for a transmission. I thought with the low miles it would've been nice, but didn't want to risk it. Thanks guys. I will hopefully be back with another one hopefully with a transmission job already completed.

Keep in mind that you'll still need to do the 105k service on it since the belts are probably cracked from dry rot.

With that low of mileage I bet the car is in great shape. Would be a nice base to swap a 6mt into. A lot of the cl's now are rust buckets from 11 years of winter driving. Not nearly as bad as rustangs tho.

Just buy Morgan's cls It's a 6mt, and he's a great guy. I believe he's only asking around 7.5k for it. https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-photograph-gallery-53/my-turn-reminisce-869927/
