3000gt's can run from 15-25k depending on the model u want, and engine type. if it was a regular 3000gt u would have killed it, it only has 160 hp. but the top of the line twin turbo has about 340 hp. i almost got one, but they are hard to find around here, not too many people have them. its a sweet car though

I thought VR-4's were the high end model, the one's with AWD and Twin Turbos.

When I had my 99 Camaro SS, I used to race my friend in his 94 VR4 and he could always hang with me. Mine was an auto and his was manual. Those things are sweet cars. All wheel steering was a nice feature for high speed cornering. It was about 45K new but you can pick up a used VR4 for about 20-25K. Don't even bother with a base or the SL. Without the turbo's, nothing is very special.

Cool... Niello Acura is a nice place. That's where I bought my car last week. They always have 25-30 CL's in stock so I got to pick the one I wanted. I only live a couple miles from the Automall but unfortunately no Acura and no Lexus dealership. I'm glad I chose the CL over the IS300, I was one signature away from driving off in the Lexus.

I raced one a few months ago. It was a twin turbo. We raced from about 30 all the way to 90. Then again from 50 to 100. I beat him both times by maybe a fender. The only reason I won is because he had 2 passengers with him. He was pretty pissed. After the race they motioned for me to roll down my window. They were asking me "what I had in there"? I said it was stock. He started screaming about his TT and his 300+ hp. I told him sorry bro my shit is still stock.
It was too much fun.

drove my friend's '93 3000GT VR-4. mods included HKS evc and GAB suspension. sucker was heavy, but it was fast as hell w/ the aftermarket suspension, it handled pretty well. it would definitely kill a modded cl-s...no doubt...

IMHO, the three big problems with that car are:

1. Weight. 2 tons is nothing sneeze at. Even though you can tune to increase grip to something proportional to what the car needs to qualify as a sports machine, all that weight reduces the "fun factor" of the car. Cars such as the Miata and Elise are universally touted not because of their fantastic technology or performance (well, the Elise does hold its own), but that they're fun to push to the limit and won't have you recalling physics courses where you were supposed to have learned mass/acceleration/static friction/kinetic friction as you lay in the hospital from not being able to recover from seemingly minor overcooking.

2. Practicality. It's not like your CL or my IS, where we actually have a back seat. We're talking about 2+2 seating like the Supra. Don't try to cruise to LV with three friends. You'll end up with three less friends as they bitch and fight for the front passenger seat.

3. Mitsubishi. Reliability is certainly not a strong suit of this marque, plus they have a rather sordid history of building war machines (read profiteer) and are still run by old-school executives that refuse to see their racially/sexually discriminatory practices as morally questionable.

I used to own a 97 vr4. The base 3000gt only had 160hp in 97 and all other years it was 220hp like in their SL model. vr4 was top of the light and fast as shit. My head snapped back whenever I would gun it. I added 1.5-2k worth of mods including an upgraded Greddy turbo and it was sick. I went up to HIN with a group of my friends and one of his friends came with a 3000gt and he would just burn everyone especially my stock cl-s. They're cheaper than supras, but it was rare that I was able to show the full potential of that car, but it turned heads like it was an nsx or something. =)
