AASCO Flywheels put more power to the ground; Heeltoe Special Event Sale
Gain back your engine's lost power !
Drivetrain losses account for 15-25% of reduced power output. Energy is produced by the engine but is sapped by spinning accessories and other reciprocating parts of the engine. The flywheel is the largest mass on the engine that robs power. By installing a light-weight aluminum AASCO Motorsports flywheel, you can get much of that lost power back!
Gain in efficiency is the main benefit of installing an AASCO aluminum flywheel. Whether you are a street driver looking to reduce load on the enging and increase gas mileage, or a performance driver looking to increase your car's practical power output, AASCO flywheels fit the bill.
AASCO aluminum flywheels offer all the reduced weight possible and are strong enough to take all the abuse a street performance or road race driver can dish out. AASCO incorporates a replaceable friction surface that allows you to keep the same flywheel for the life of the car by simply replacing the steel friction disc when changing clutches.
- Low mass reduces drivetrain loss = MORE POWER
- Never replace or resurface your flywheel again!
- Lighter and longer lasting that chromoly.
- Tough enough for the rigors of GT3 racing.
- 100% DESIGNED AND MADE IN THE USA
Don't confuse 100% American made AASCO flywheels with other overseas-manufactured units. AASCO wheels are made with ANSI-certified 6061-T6 aluminum. With something as important as your flywheel, don't trust one billet material over another unless it carries the proper certification that only ANSI can provide.

Just want to confirm your not suppose to run a light weight flywheel and lightweight crank pulley as the harmonics on the crank can produce some dangerious outcome...true?
#3
Not true. We've gone through this over and over (and over) again with customers and claims of crankshaft wear or damages have been entirely unfounded when explored in the context of modern Honda engines when running aluminum pulleys and flywheels. Some engines definitely require such dampers but Honda engines by in large do not.
A flywheel is a significantly less of a concern to change than even a pulley is since it is of larger mass and is additionally dampened through the transmission.

That is fine also. And underdrive pulley just simply has a smaller diameter, giving the crank a mechanical advantage over the other pulleys in the system (frees up power). The only side effect is the alternator spins a little slower reducing it's output a bit, but this has never been proven to be a detriment on any cars but ones with the highest electrical demands (such as those with huge stereos, which really should be running upgraded alternators anyway).
A TSX member actually did a charging test with an underdrive crank pulley and did record the drop in output but it stayed well above safe levels, even with all the headers, lights, etc on.

Anyone been running one of these in their CL-S (I don't care about other Acura models) for a significant amount of time (couple years and 30k+ miles)? I'd like to hear some feedback on them. Anyone have any experience with them on FI CL-S'?
Also, what are the issues with going from dual-mass flywheel like the factory model to this single mass?

the comptech LWFW failed because of the stock pressure plate which could not take the added stress..
the price Marcus is giving us is extremely competitive. combine it with the clutchmasters clutch/pp and you are getting deals cheaper than buying a whole clutchmasters LWFW/clutch/pp together
civicdrvr is running the FX300 kit

TheWeez, you won't find anyone running this flywheel for that amount of time, technically. Essentially speaking, regarding build quality, longevity, reliability, etc you can mentally copy & paste whatever you've heard about the CM wheel and apply it to the AASCO one.
BTW, we are offering clutchmasters clutches as well.

Ok folks, after a few requests we have added some weights to the order page so you can see what the different wheels come in at!

Ive had this flywheel (Clutchmasters uses the AASCO flywheel in their kit) on my car for 33k miles with the Option lightweight crank pulley.
The only issue is traction.

Is aasco aluminum flywheel for the 03 CLS6 $473.68 shipped at the group buy price? I also need a clutch and pressure plate but I'm not trying to spend almost a grand on a clutch kit.

You'll spend ~$800 if you were to get this flywheel and run the OEM disc and pressure plate (including throwout bearing).
#17
Lol I don't want a OEM disc and pressure plate. Maybe there's a cheaper option as far as a aluminum flywheel? If I have no other option than I will just stick with the stock setup until it starts slipping and it "needs" to be upgraded. It's just hard spending that much on a clutch kit for a car that I daily drive. For a few hundred more I bought a twin disc clutch kit for my mustang that holds over 1000fwhp.

There arent any other flywheels for our motors. Its this or OEM.
There are aftermarket discs; Clutchmasters makes a full kit using the AASCO flywheel and P2R sells a 6 puck disc as well.
My Clutchmasters kit was $400 more then the setup listed above and was well worth it in my opinion. It may not be what most would use for a daily though as I went with the stage 3 kit.

Alright so it looks like I'll get in on this group buy for this flywheel. What's the deadline to pay by? I still have to decide what I want to do for a clutch and pressure plate. Civicdrivr I looked up clutchmasters kits for our cars and it's between $1,375-1,500 don't you think that's expensive lol.

In the grand scheme of things, no, it didnt seem expensive for me. The OEM clutch would have been slipping on me by this point. I like to overbuild too. And I only paid $1200.

I completely know what you mean on doing over kill ha. That's not too bad you got a good deal compared to there prices on there website.
#23
An exedy is like $300. OEM replacement.

So how many people have bought j series flywheels so far? Also is it close to the 20 total needed?
#25
None have (see list here: http://www.heeltoeauto.com/pages.php?pageid=26)
We only need 5, or if we don't get 5 then 20 of a mix of flywheels will do.

Any updates on this? I'm not in a rush but my weak stock clutch in my car is starting to get annoying. It's $473.68 shipped for just the flywheel correct?

IM going to be getting a new clutch and flywheel in the near future too, because at 132k miles, my car isnt putting down the power it should in my opinion...
#28
I'm at 94k and mines pretty much only bad when I power shift but it's on the weak side. I can't imagine how weak yours is at 132k lol.

OH, and civic is right about the flywheel being different than the TL, very weird. LUK still has one for the CL though.

There is a sensor pickup (I can never remember which one) that is on ONLY the CL flywheel. No other V6 6MT Honda has that. We are stuck with flywheels that are made specifically for CLs. Accords and TLs can use CL flywheels though.

03 CL-S MT
I am currently looking to get the Aasco flywheel as well but debating which clutch to purchase. Does anyone have any insight on a Spec clutch for cl type S? I am interested to know how these compare to any of the other clutches. I believe it sells for about $579.00 Here is their website: http://www.specclutch.com/cars/Acura/CL/2003/Single. I found also another that sells them a little cheaper: http://www.lmperformance.com/120378/.html
Any advice on this clutch would be helpful. I am looking for a stage one kit.

Dont waste your money on the SPEC garbage.
I suggest either a full Clutch Masters setup or a P2R disc and OEM pressure plate.

Thank you for devoting your entire existence here to explaining how upset you are with a particular vendor because of your inability to do research. We've received your point, thanks to over 25 posts on the matter, so kindly develop a different thought process or go away. This section is already dwindling in popularity due to the age of this vehicle and the last thing it needs is someone whining like an infant because Mom took away his tit. Get over it or do something about it. Just because a company says you can't return something doesn't mean you can't. PayPal protects you, credit card companies protect you and banks protect you. We don't protect you, nor do we care any longer about what happened. You know who else doesn't care? A three year old thread about a product from another manufacturer.
