97 cl 5spd vs 2000 maxima se
I was heading back from auto Zone in Conroe of Frazier street. I went there to get me some new iridium plugs ( huge difference in idle and the car is smooth ) , anyways on my way home headed on 105 North tward Montgomery i spoted a white nissan maxima. I thought nothing of so we coincidentaly pulled at the light. This young man was in his early 20s. I was talking to myself about racing and what not and mumbling because its rare you find someone to race. It was hot out ( about 80 degs ) and i had 1/4 tank with my new plugs ( i highly recommend them. So we start driving and he floors it and i follow 4 cars behind.. ( fuck i wasnt ready for this ) at the next light however i knew it was on, but i still wasnt 100 sure. Light turns and he floors it i roll it on from 5 mph then clutch drop to gain momentum into 2nd. We raced into mid 4th at around 110 dead even till 100 were i pulled half a car and still going. Once we cut it down, he gave me the and i gave him the At the next light there were cars so i stopped and he pulled up next to me and we discussed briefly the make and year of our cars. His was a white 2000 maxima se auto. Good guy and very freindly. Told him mine was a acura cl ( nothing more ) Over all im happy all my engine work and $ paid off NA and i bet if i launched i would have held a lead the whole ride instead of being his "equal" ( to a 100 that is ) With all the cash from my Turbo i cannot use ( clearance issues and engine managment i cant afford ) i suppose a new m2s4 tranny will be nice with aftermarket fly and clutch.

Good run!! With an AT, the 00-01 Maximas seem to bog down horribly.

Had a 2001 Maxima 5-speed Manual, I would love to see that against my 2003 acura CL 6 speed. I know the CL will work out on it, just I do love my Maxima's. Did tha maxima have any apparent mods?

haha well, a stock cl is slower than a 1986 integra ls so but modified, they can keep up with faster cars. Im not sure but a 2000 maxima se runs just a hair over 15 seconds in the 1/4 and i know ive touched high 14s if i still had more to give em when we raced.

The fruits of another major upgrading effort can be found underhood. Numerous tweaks to the Maxima,s all-aluminum 3.0-liter DOHC engine make even sweeter one of the best V-6s on the market today. New inlet and exhaust manifolding, a variable intake tract, a freer-flowing variable-capacity muffler, and programmable engine control help bump output from 190 to 222 horsepower and from 205 to 217 pound-feet of torque. On the refinement front, revised motor mounts improve the overall drivetrain isolation
My bad its 217 Torque

The 00-01 Maximas have the VQ30DE-k motor (222-227hp) versus the 95-99 VQ30DE (190hp)

word, i got my Hp and tq mixed up I was pulling on him in 4th at 110, but... i didnt launch so i wonder if i launched, if the outcome would have been 1 car or two more. I noticed he caught up from me shifting from first to second, then from second he dropped down a little bit and from 2nd to third he regained ground pulled a hair in the middle of third and then at the top of 3rd i pulled and shifted into 4rth while he began to creep back very slowly For the most part we were even untill 4th but then again, a car with 222 hp and 217 tq id say, based on his car (2000) i may have dipped into the 15 evens based on his car running 15.3 according to car and driver and depeding on his launch 15.3 -15.7 IDK

LOL, I was gonna say something but you seemed kinda confident about that 217hp. I'm a maxima freak and I know that all but to 20th ann. 5 gen have the same hp. The the 5.5 gen is the beast with 255hp and a 6 speed version. Ayougo, how many CL's do you have, don't you have the new body style cl aswell?? Kinda new, just wanna make sure.
