7500 Service and a Loaner Saab 9-5

I've had a decent morning at the dealership. First, I Iook the car car in for some warrantee work. The power front seat mechanism does not slide forward to let rear seat passengers in. Apparently, its the control board which they are replacing.

Second, since I'm already at 7300 miles, I decided to get the 7500 service done at the same trip. $99 but a dealer discount and free oil change card, that makes it $60. Not bad considering some of the horror stories I've heard.

Third, Santa Monica Acura does not have loaner cars. They send you across the street to pick up my Geo Metro rental car from Enterprise. Well I decided to splurge a little and upgraded to a Saab and see how it would compare to the Type S.

I checked on Edmunds for stats on the Saab. Its a 9-5 V6t Sedan. 200hp 3.0-liter turbo V6 with a 4-speed auto and 229 foot-pounds of torque from 2,500 rpm through 4,000-rpm. 0-60 mph in about 7.5 seconds. Base price of 38k and this car had heated seats and onStar which topped it at $40,500.

Its a nice car. Leather. moonroof that open all the way. Pretty peppy with decent low end power. The ignition is in the center console and I can see scratches where people have tried to stick the key behind the steering wheel. And I keep looking at the AC controls expecting to see a navi screen. Reflex I guess. I'm not a fan of the styling but its starting to grow on me. Can someone tell me why Saabs are so appealing? Is it an East Coast thing?
