6speed spark plug gapping help??????please
hey fellas,
well, the board (at least from my searches) is very unclear about how to gap the spark plugs or whether it is even needed.
I have a 2003 6SPEED CLS. For the record, the plugs for the 6speed type-s are different from any other CL/TL '99-'03. The are and that is a fact. the stock spark plug for the 6speed is NGK IZFR6K11.
I have just purchased a set for my car as i have 75000 miles and want to know if they need to be regapped? if so to what?
I have read all kinds of stuff on the board about different gapping for more power, associated voltage change over gap, as well as size of spark.
there is also talk of denso iridium. I dont care about this. I want to know about the stock NGK plugs I bought for my 6speed. I am very confused and getting pissed.

If you got plugs for your application they should have came pre gapped to the correct gap. Look under your hood. There should be a label on it that says the gap spec. Just get a plug gapper at any auto store for a few dollars & use it to check the gap.

Get a gap guage and set them to whatever it says in the owners manual.

Doesn't hurt to check them anyway, but every set of plugs I got for a specfic car were gapped correctly out of the box.

Do not attempt to regap the Denso or NGK iridiums.
They come pregapped, assuming you bought the right application.
Also the electrode is to thin to be messing with the gap. You'll probably end up breaking the electrode.
The OEM ones should be fine if you feel the need to check the gap.
