6spd deal?

I have been offered the following....

trade in my '02 w/ 18.5K miles and get '03 6spd for $950 down and an extra $100/month. The current buyout on my lease is approx. $23.6K...

Any thoughts?

Also, did your insurance stay the same when you moved to the 6spd?

thanks

Would you be buying the 6 spd? If so, what is the cost of the car? Is the buyout the amount they would allow you in trade on the '03?

I bought a 6psd last week, and the type of transmission didn't affect the cost of the insurance. The insurance cost increase on a new car is based more on how much a particular car costs to repair if damaged. For example, another car I was considering buying was a Saab 9-3, which would have cost more than the Acura in terms of insurance because it's more expensive to fix.

Without knowing a couple of things, like what you're paying currently, it's tough for me to make a decision. Sounds a little high to me, but I'll reserve comments until more information is shared...

How many months? If you take that $100/month extra, & add it up, say 60 months that's an extra $6000 plus the $950. The deal I had was simlar, they wanted $1500 down, & an extra $80/month. I added it all up, & paid the lump some instead of the monthly increase so my payment are the same.

My insurance went down a whole $8.00 for the 6 speed.

Might be worth it...

The CL-S 6spd is a beast. It's easily quicker (with only a header) than the pre '97 NSX's (except handling, of course... and looks) and can easily be made quicker than pretty much all the later-model NSX's as well.

i'd do it just by how underrated and underestimated our cars are. Given a good driver, this car is ridiculous

some more info....

The payment in based on a 36mo lease, and comes to just under $500/month. The buyout of my '02 is $23.6K, while it appraised at $20K, thus the $100/mo increase in the lease payment (the $100 extra per month *36mo comes out to be the $3,600 difference, nicely spread out over time). Dealer offered the '03 at invoice (still need to get exact $ amount)

BTW - I am looking at the 6spd because my damn tranny ate it on Monday (18.5K miles). I am also considering one of the new A4 1.8T (I'll add a chip and have some some fun if go that route).

That's not a bad hit at all. Mine was close to $6K. I had to pay the difference in lease buyout, & dealer trade cost, plus the $1500 down. My payment are under $400 with out tax. 39 months. 15K/year

I look at it this way...

You're paying $500/month for a car and after three years of these payments, you won't own it.

Now... They want you to put down around $1000 and increase your payments $100 a month for another 36 months.

($600 *12 * 3) + $1000 = $22,600.00 over THREE years and you won't own the car??? What's the residual after three years? $15K???

I'd pass...

good point. I was thinking along similar lines myself. Basically the total cost of the car (assuming buyout at residual after three years) is near 40K. Figuring 40K total cost against a 30K original sticker, I'd effectively be paying 33% interest over the course of the lease / buyout period.
I'm thinking I'll drive my '02 to lease end and walk away. Just tired of the problems w/ my slush box CL.

Yeah, $600/month for a 30K car is WAY too much to be paying for a lease...
