Wha? 3 cars? Have you ever gone to the track? 3 cars is a huge amount of time. It's a drivers race.

Best stock time for a g35coupe is around 14.1 in the 1/4. It was cold that day and said he hooked up pretty well. If you want to see timeslips, he might have posted it in Freshalloy. I'm not sure if the cls can do it stock but I know with headers, it is pretty fast.

14.1 @ 98 mph. I haven't seen a stock cls do that yet.

i beat one 4 times, once from a stop, 3 from a roll leaving syosset car wash(for us new yorkers) and route 106 on my way home. He wasn't very happy, but you could tell he wasn't smart because his first question was "are those rotors stock" (asking about my cross drilled

Actually a stock 6er is trapping about 96-97....i hit 100.6 once with my I/H/E....Id say its a drivers race with the 6er, but with the auto, id say the 6erCL should take it stock for stock...

theoretically, the G should win, but who knows, I've seen Stangs lose to CL-Ss and they run about the same as the G...
driver's race in favor of the G
driver's race in favor of the G

Stock CL-S 6spd is doing 14.1s at 98-100 traps. Autos do that with headers.
![Bullshit](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/bs.gif)
Stock CLS 6 speeds DO NOT run 14.1's. The only stock 6speeds that have run around that # have I/H
BTW, I had I/H and I ran ~14.4 with my auto, which was one of the faster times for an auto.
The only person running that with an Auto is Mattg who has more than just headers (Nitrous excluded)

So basically the coupe is faster than the cls. Maybe its even faster than the Z
With the exact same driver and conditions, the G35c is NOT faster than the Z. How can a car that is over 200 lbs heavier and has LESS hp be faster than a Z?

well if you wanna talk car and driver from the latest article i read, the CL-S is a tenth of a second faster in 0-60 and 1/4 mile. If you wanna talk reality, the way i beat that kid in his g35 was kinda embarassing for him cuz the whole time he said he'd win. it was from a 45mph roll each time and i just kept on going until about a 100 when i let off and i was about a 1 1/2 cars. Stock for stock i'd have to say g35 would win.

As for the Z, of course I know its faster. However, how does the g35coupe compare in terms of dyno numbers at the wheel. I'm interested to see whether nissan made those numbers up or that the two cars actually have a tangible horsepower difference.

BTW, I think the coupe sometimes gets faster slalom numbers because it has better tires. It really doesn't make sense for the g35coupe to be faster being that it has SUPPOSEDLY less hp and is heavier.

A G35 will win most of the time. They weight about the same as a CL-S and the G35 has RWD w/20HP and 40TQ more. A CL-S could probobly hang with the perfect launch, shifts and conditions. A G35 would have to be perfect to beat a CL-S. Anything less than perfect for the G35 would keep the CL-S in striking distance. And I have seen that post for the 14.1 before on a CL-S. The G35 would probobly hit 14.1 more consistantly.

I beat a G35 3 times at the track in a row. My CLS had Comptech headers/icebox/exhaust then.
It wasn't any 3 car length,s I can guarantee you that.
The G35C had his back seat out and no spare in the trunk. Otherwise he was stock.
I inched him out by about 1 hoodlength every time.
That car is one to be reconed with.

was it 6spd?

darrin: yes, I ran a 14.3. this guy's car still had paper plates though and I don't at all think he was an expert driver, nor am I for that matter. if driven right, those conditions should have put him in front of me and at around a 14.1 or 14.0. It's seriosuly a fast car, I drove one before and the numbers don't do it justice. take a peek at their dynos and you'll see great (generally) flat power curves.
mattg: yes his was a 6-speed, as is mine.
in stock form a 6MT CLS will probably run a 14.6 or 14.5 with a good driver.
this guy was running consistent 14.3x and I don't tihnk he has ever raced in his life.

Key thing to note with the VQ35DE motor: If it's still new (read: not broken in), it wont impress much. But when broken in, it's almost a different car; the acceleration gets noticeably better when broken in. I base that on what I've read on G35driver, 350Zmotoring and my own experience with my 2k2 Maxima.
That said, a 6MT race between the CLS and G35C definitely has to be videotaped.
So if anyone is going to setup a few runs, then break out the Sony.
Peace.

For a bone stock CL-S6 to run LOW 14's it gonna need at least a 2.10 60', awesome weather, and probably 99mph traps. I was able to get mine down to consistent 14.5-14.6 @ 97'ish mph with low 2.3 60's. Anyone who has driven on the stock tires in the 6 speed knows how difficult it is to launch cleanly and aggressively.
Maybe with some sticky ass tires, a well prepped track, great weather, and a expert driver a stock CL-S6 could hit 14.1-14.2, but thats not being 100% realistic.

Wasn't that the article with the mustang cobra? Where the Mustang beat the piss out of the other cars in performance, but ended up with last place!!! Hahaha.... it was something like 0-120, 18 secs for the Mustang, 0-120, 29 secs for the 350Z and 32 for the RX8??? LOL
