6000k or 8000k?

ok...my cars in the shop right now getting fixed since it got into an accident. As a result, i lost the 6000k bulbs i had on my car before so now I have to get new bulbs...now my question is...should i get 6000k again? Or should i buy 8000k? My friend has 8000k on his IS300 and i think they look pretty damn nice, but I've heard issues on light output. He claims it's fine, but I want other peoples' opinions. Thanks guys

get the stock ones. best output. anything over 6k you start losing light. they might look cool, but you'll see much more with the 6k's.

There isn't much light loss between the diff color temps. For every 2000 degrees Kelvin, you lose about 200 lumens. So with a 4000K bulb you have about 3200, 6000K is 3000, and 8000K is 2800. We are talking less than 10% difference, and waaay more light than any halogen (most low beam halogens are 1000 lumens).

I say get w/e bulb you want.

8000K HIDs = 2800 lumens
9006 Halogen low beam = 1000 lumens

Even 10,000K HIDs whip Halogens with no problem. It's up to you whether or not you notice the difference btwn the 6000K and the 8000K.

4300k = ~3200 lumens, 6000k = ~2800 lumens, 8000k = ~2200 lumens

The higher the lumens...the better the visability. The higher the kelvin, the more bluer the light.

6000k Osram:

Shit sucks when it hella rains and also hella sucks on really, really black roads.

I paid $240 for mine shipped overnight from Taiwan (and yes these are real Osram and not some knockoff.)

Get either Osram or Phillips.

anything claiming over 6000k is a coated capsule, therefore the gas isn't making the actual color. there's no way to be certain what ur actually getting unless you measure the color temp urself, there is no control. the only thing that is certain is true kelvin ratings, not all these cheap maufacture claims who coat capsules. most 5000K+ bulbs are coated crap anyways. not many are willing to pay for real philips ultinons which are 6000-6300 after color shifting. if u want better lighting switch to philips 4100k bulbs for some reason they are whiter than osram 4100k. but the osram are more yellow, so better in the rain. im pretty sure acura uses osram.

roddx are you talking about during the day? becuase yeah then maybe oem bmw and audi projectors look yellow at certain angles, but at night no way. audi is dark purple and bmw blue/ purple. if you want ur headlamps to seem blue or purple during the day then a 4100k setup wont due especially in a reflector setup. you have a first gen right? another thing you dont have going for you is a xenon reflector. ur halogen one is effecting the color and its likely a higher kelvin rating is needed to get the same effect in color as a lower kelvin rating in a xenon reflector setup. oem acura cl and especially tl 4100k setups are very purple at night to oncomming traffic. again daytime is another story depending on the sunlight and angle of viewing. personally im a functionality guy vs. asthetics when it comes to lighting.
