because of the demand. They arent really anything speical to them, just the color output.

6000k is the highest that the reputable companies make (i.e. Phillips and Osram).

6000k osram:

8500k is ILLEGAL blue. You can see that from a mile away.

I can't receive PMs for some dumb reason. My inbox is empty. I emailed the moderator, but he hasn't responded back to me.

I was thinking about the 8500k because I love the blue color. Is it true they have a violet tint to them also?

I'm thinking i might pick up some aftermarket aircraft landing lights to replace my fogs. I know my dad had em on some of his cars a long time ago.

I'll be able to light up the road 5 miles down

6000k cost so much. the price is really deterring me from buying them.

I was told by a rep that if you go any higher than 4100k which is OEM you lose your luminesent which is your light output..... if you go like 8k or higher you will defeat the purpose of having HID's the output on the reg. halogen is just as bright, but the color you get from 8k or 12k is just giving you a bright blue or purple, and it's no good for output.. so the highest you want to go is probably 6k. I could be wrong ! but I compare my 4100k with my freinds BMW which had after market hid 8000k bulb and my light out put was much greater than his.. but his color gave it that blue / purple hue..... which I like...

BTW I just order a set of Phillips 6000k rteplacment hid bulb for 250 shiped I just want to see what it will look like in the CL.

I think $250 is just too much for light bulbs. you might as well buy another hid conversion kit.

This is true.. the higher on the temp scale you go... the less light output you'll have. Personally I wouldn't go above 6000k. It makes no sense. I mean you're really going to spend money so your headlights look cooler, but put out less light? I don't get it.

At 6000k, you are getting about 2800 lumens compared to at 4300k at 3200 lumens. Now imagine at 8000k and beyond.

MisterMehoff, I don't think this is a mod for you. You should instead use the $250 and buy an icebox in which is gives you performance and in a way...looks also. Also...do not buy some cheap generic HID bulbs...I've seen 6000k that looks more like 8000k...be wary.

Looks cool as hell! However I'd rather be able to see better then have blue/purple lights.
