My neighbor who owns an 03 six speed had his car wrecked last night when someone hit his parked car and left the scene. The wreck happened on the back left, ruined the exhaust, rear bumper and back left fender, likely some frame damage and he is expecting it to be totaled. I told him to consider parting it out which it sounds like he wants to do. If anyone is interested in a 6 speed swap, this might be good for you. Engine has 130k miles, located in Austin. I will follow up once he confirms if parting out and can put you in touch with him. Driven by an old man for 10 years.

 

If he wants the whole setup as in cluster ecu engine trans and all for like 2k sold

It is SMR, but it was his 3rd Acura so it sat outside and the paint is in poor shape. I can get some pictures this week if it appears he will keep and part it out.

 

I'd be interested in the drivers door seals (all three of them) if they're not cracked or broken.

Just wondering , You say it was driven by an old man . Is he capeable of parting it out or is it more likely to be sold as a whole ?

 

Update on this: Spoke to the owner and learned he is willing to sell the car whole for $2500-3000.

Since his son also had a CL, he swapped out the wheels, so now the 03 for sale has 01 wheels, otherwise everything else is stock '03 6 speed.

I'm going to stop by his place today to take pictures/video and will post them up later today/tonight.

It is very rough on the exterior, needs full paint job, but I suspect most just want it for the 6 speed engine. He confirmed the 105k timing belt service was done and has service records. The engine has 131K miles.

Is the rear wing oem? If so I'd be interested in it. Maybe hood too if its paint is better than mine.

 

Is it the color or the climate? My SMR car spent the 1st 8.5 - 9 years of its life in the Houston area. F'd up spots in clear coat (on hood especially). Acid rain? Lack of care? Shity paint?

this is not a part out thread, at least as far as my involvement. the owner wants to sell the car whole, so the next owner can take your part out requests. I'm just trying to connect fellow members to a 6 speed engine.

oldsman, yes OEM wing and it's in good shape, as he purchased that for the car later and it didn't suffer the paint degradation like the rest of the car did. Speaking of, the hood could use a respray for sure but otherwise in good shape and the paint on hood is not nearly as bad as the paint on the roof or trunk lid.

Since he had 2 other Acura's, the CL sat outside in the elements but even so, his paint looks like crap, not sure what to say. I live in same climate but all garage kept and taken care of. I suspect the layers of pollen and humidity did not help over the years. We get a film of pollen over everything each spring, nasty and hard to clean when combined with rain/humidity, I suspect this is what killed his paint.

 

wish he was parting it. i need all the front end parts

 

If I obtain the car almost everything non 6mt related would be sold .

 

Buy it Mike! Then sell me the spoiler. Probably cost less to ship from Austin than Vegas.

Well guys I'm not gonna get it , I got a different car yesterday .

 

I heard from Sam, who was inquiring on interest from the forum members and he let me know if an offer doesn't come through by Monday, he will just accept the insurance offer and let it go.

 

I wanted to update everybody that I have entered into an agreement to purchase this car.

I won't take possession of it for a little while since it is in another city, but once I do, I will determine if it is economically feasible to repair it or part it out.

Well apparently every CL-S 6MT in Texas ended up in Austin. There is definitely a curious share of them up there.
