2003 Comptech Acura 3.2 CL “R”
The only thing I can think of is there was a dealer in FL that would actually sell the CL with the option of getting the MDX block in it, and those would put out decent numbers.
But that description is hilarious. The seller is smoking some really good shit.
. I don't believe this unless you show me a link.
He's not putting 322 hp even at the crank with those mods. He's just not.
I love how the 6MT is considered an "upgrade"
0-60 in 5.2 seconds? I'd love to ask him how he came up with that number.
In fact, I think I will...

What does the CL-S run stock? Something like 6 flat? With those mods, at the best I'd expect 5.5. Main problem is traction. Unless you're a professional drag racer that weighs 60 pounds that gets a 100% perfect launch in ideal conditions, I HIGHLY doubt you'd see 5.2. It's mostly about the traction problems you get with FWD.

It gets exponentially harder to improve your times. Going from 0-60 of 6 seconds to one of 5.5 is easier than going from 5.5 to 5 flat. The mods he has are essentially I/H/E. Those won't shave .8 of a second from your 0.60 time, unless you're running slicks. He's not.
Well, neither of us know for sure until it gets timed. Luckily, I will have full bolt ons installed in my car hopefully within the next week or two (if there not on backorder), and I will time it and let you know what I get
I've never ran 0-60 below 6.1 according to dynolicious. This is BS. 246whp that i pulled on dyno are about 285-290 at the crank acording to what the guy told me then. 5.2 is simply imposible to me. Not with FWD
I just got an email back from him here is what he said.... lol
Still have the CL. I am the original owner. All of the performance numbers come from Acura and the original spec sheet off of the windshield is still in the glove box. The way the Acura guys explained it to me when I picked up the car was, Acura imported 500 six speed CL's that year and sent them to an outfit in California, similar to what Mercedes does with AMG. The transmission is a variant of the transmission they put in the NSX. All modifications were factory "authorized", again, like Mercedes does with their AMG cars.
The car, inside and out is in very good condition with 80,000 miles, averaged about 10,000/year, no hard use. Unfortunately, because part of the handling package included larger wheels, these are the rims the car came with. I had a 2003 TL type S as well. I asked about a manual transmission, but was told when I bought it that Acura didn't put "sticks" in any TL's or CL's from the factory, except these "specials". Never verified that but this CL is still the only model I've seen personally, with a "factory" six speed stick.

Lol he sounds pretty serious so maybe he was a real gullible and believed what a desperate dealership told him to make a sale. I wouldnt be suprised if the dealer really did say that and did the install. He may have no clue. Oh well. All in all not a bad price for the parts it has. Only thing I would do is find some stock wheels to trade for haha.
possibly a consignment?

If this is what the dealer told him I'm wondering how much they sold him the car for it must of been more than the so called "non imported" CL's that don't come with this equipment. Since he says the dealer told him that 500 were sent to California then why does his ad say one of a kind?
I don't think this guy is gullible I think he thinks everyone else is.
My email:
Hi, I have a few questions about the Acura CL-S you have for sale.
1. How did you get the 322 horsepower number? Was the car put on a dynamometer to accurately measure horsepower to the wheels?
2. How did you get the 0-60 number of 5.2 seconds?
3. Is the 6-speed transmission an upgrade, or just the one the car came with from factory?
4. Where did you get the "R" demonimation?
The reply:
You sound like you have an idea what this car is. I am the original owner of the car. The way Acura tells it, 500 CL's with factory six speeds were imported that year and sent to an outfit called CompTech, I believe, but don't hold me to that. All modifications were and are factory covered similar to what Mercedes does with AMG. All of the performance numbers come from Acura, and the original windshield "data sheet" including the statement "fastest production CL made", is still in the glove box. The car is in very good shape, interior is very nice. Would be happy to answer any questions you have and can be reached on my cell at (850)791-5948. Are you here in Pensacola? Would like for you to take a look at the car and drive it yourself to get a better feel for what it is.

Considering he didn't answer a single one of my questions directly, I'd say he's a used car dealer, all right.

You guys should leave this poor guy alone. He is trying to sell his car in what is a terrible economy. lol
Do unto others....
Sounds like a dealer somewhere may have taken advantage of this fellow at some point? I am sure he is just relaying the same info he was given. Who knows.

I just got my response....I'll be sure to ask!!
Justin,
Not sure what to add except I am the original owner. Are you in the Pensacola area? If so, I would be happy to show you the car and let you drive it. It is a Comptech CL, seems to be a bit of discussion as to how many were actually made, and the performance numbers are per Acura. That original sticker is still in the glove box. I never felt the need to seek verification of those numbers since it was a "personal use" vehicle that has always just been a lot of fun to drive.
Let me know if you are interested in seeing the car and thanks for the interest,
Rusty

Justin,
Doesn't sound like you really care about the car as much as you want to play "trivia pursuits". As I said in my E-mail, the numbers are from Acura, and instead of questioning Acura as to where THEY got them, I simply chose to drive and enjoy the car. If you don't buy ACURA's numbers, that's certainly your prerogative. I also owned a 2003 Acura TL type S and I can tell you first hand, there is no comparison in the performance of that car vs the Comptech CL. If you don't know what a Comptech CL is, then you aren't really going to be interested in this car, regardless of "numbers". If you are, my offer to let you drive it still stands, but from the sound of your last sentence,
" I would love to take a look at the car if you answer these questions.",
it really sounds like you are more interested in some sort of "performance number minutia game", than the car.
I dont think im good at being sly.....LOL
