I don't think it matters for the engine, both would be fine -- I cannot answer if it makes a difference if you are supercharged or running FI. Somehow, I think you'd be fine either way, as long as you're running good quality oil. The difference in viscosity between the two grades is not too extreme.

From what I can tell from the Helm manual, there's no significant difference in the internals of the J32A2 engine between the 2001, 2002, and 2003 model years, although oil recommendations do change (5W-30 or 10W-30 [warm weather] for 2001, and ONLY 5W-20 for 2002 & 2003).

From what other's have posted, it seems the change to 5W-20 was to satisfy EPA standards (called CAFE - corporate average fuel economy) and not any engineering requirement. Only the inner sanctum of Honda, Ford, and others really know. It's never been publically stated why these manufacturers changed to 5W-20, so we (as consumers) are only making an assumption.

I run 10W-30 on my blown car, but then again, I would prolly go for 5-W30 in the winter if I lived in a colder clime.

Ur up in colder climates, stick to 5W-30, synthetic that is. No it is not a stupid question that u asked. Because I and many others have gone the FI (N2O) route we all had to change to thicker oil. Also do the the fact that I live in much hotter climates, I feel that 5W-30 is like watter down here.
