And as someone has stated, PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE don't quote ONLY what u want.
For example, Altima owners love quoting that 5.9 sec for the manual and 6.2 for the auto but never mention the 7.1 in Road and Track.

I can recall an issue with the maxima where Nissan had overstated the HP (some said to make it higher than the 3.5 Altima), and I thought they have since admitted wrong doing etc from what I understand. Do you have any proof that the G35's HP is overrated? Saying that they blanketly overstate their numbers on all their vehicles seems a little presumptuous. Just looking for facts
I think the G35hp is dang near underated. I think sedans make 280hp too.

400 faster than 430 cause of e-shift. 430s have no e-shift. Both have 300 hp but the 430 makes peak hp 1000rpm lower, I think 5200 RPM. 400 has 310 lbs torque and 430 320 lbs torque

The Z is not overrated. There have been some crappy dyno's, but there have also been MANY excellent dyno's - A few in the 248-252whp range fully stock. We all know many factors can influence dyno's.
Saying a blanket statement that Nissan overrates their HP is stupid.
The Q45 hp was not overrated. It was a combination of grears and ECU tuning. The new tune, it makes all of it's claimed HP

I had a CLS auto with almost the exact same mods as you. OBX headers, Intake, etc... Yes, the CLS is fast. I ran a 9.31 1/8th (14.3-14.4), but let me tell you - my CLS was not nearly as fast as my Z.

Last post before I'm labeled a PW. I raced my friend's 540 auto with my CLS (I/H) about a year ago. It was a dead even race. So I find it hard to believe a G35c lost that badly to an Auto 540

how fast did u race ur friend 540 till, i can beat my friend till like 80ish then he slowly pulls on me, i dont want to take it into triple digit speeds w/ the 540 or it will get really ugly fo rme past 110
just take your Z to the track and we can compare #'s, i aint sayin i'm faster than u, with the right driver your car is faster than mine, but i know for sure i can take an auto g or z

Once again, I would put money on it that if you were to run at Atlanta Dragway you would not break into the 14's. Does that mean you car is slower, no. It is a different track in a different area and cannot be compared.
The only real comparisons should be made with vehicles running at the same track on the same day.
ET's are for bragging but are worthless for a true comparison of vehicles.

Well, I can't get a Z to run me to save my life. They all back down and will not punch it. DarrinB, you can gateshift but it's no where close to as fast as E-shift to the computer. Besides we are talking .1 or .2 seconds slower 0-60. On the other hand Motor Trend got a 13.9 sec 1/4 mile run in a GS 430.
The Q45 is a slow pig to have 340hp period. And every magazine has stated what I found out driving it, it ain't no where close to a sports sedan.
Nissan's best cars are their cheaper ones, the Z and G35.

i raced one ( a 540i, that is) back in june. i posted the results on 6mt.net. ill tell the story here too......

we're going about 60, i shift to 3rd and wait. i assume that he is too sophisticated for the 3 honks thing, so i pace him. i notice that his car lurches downward, downshift i assume. i look over again and he gives me the thumbs up and punches it. i was ready............we both take off even. by the end of 3rd, i have crept ever so slightly. shift to 4th, pull about a half a car. by the shift to 5th, his nose was at my rear bumper. i shut it down as i am not too fond of speeds over 120 on a public road . it was over. no doubt about the results. the guy goes by me, waves and gives the thumbs up. wow, and i thought all BMW drivers were pricks. really made the painting alot less tedious..........
