if the kit has already been produced then the cost of changes, are minimal, It wouldn't suprise me if this project were to be handled by special order. That means time delays. As for tranny issues, you could fit a tranny cooler on your car(even w/o a SC) and that would help. There may be a duct that serves as an intake to the tranny in the kit, who knows. The true question is what would they make it out of, has to be a strong material due to the long nose on our car, scrubbing and clearance is an issue those of us with lowered CL's deal with everyday. I would hate to have a ~$2000 kit get ripped off or broken by a speedbump

with the comptech springs, my bumper is low enough to scrape underneath on the way into my parking garage at my apartment, a kit would really get screwed up in there, as much as i would love to have a kit like that, or a custom TL kit, i just cant do it at my apartmet...that ramp to the parking underground is steep!!

Just wondering, if he created/designed the kit for the SEMA CL, and Honda owns the design/patent/or whatever...Couldn't he just "slightly" modify the kit or change a bit on each piece and make it as his own and sell it?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, or the one to reinforce the old news, but AcuraTLSFan pretty much hits the issue head on and so the exact SEMA CL design won't be in production as it's copyright is owned by Honda Accessories.
But in the forthcoming weeks, I will report back on the "updated" designs, specs., volume, everything.

Well heres a long and difficult update
I went to talk to the owner of 5 Axis today, saw the kit, but was not allowed to take pictures. Sorry. So I could only take these pics of the lobby. Theres actually some numberpad-locked mammoth doors here safeguarding this 25,000 sq ft facility, for those of you who would entertain a silly thought hehe.
Anyways, 5 Axis has done practically all the work for those Honda/Acura prototype cars you've seen at the annual Detriot/LA shows. You name it, they've done it for the past couple of years.
(Aside:Funny thing was, I could tell that Troy's a Nissan fan lol; there was an old Z in the shop and a '90ish 350Z in the lot. )
So I told Troy everything I could from A-Z about the interest this CL community has for a kit. But he says right now 5 Axis is committed to finishing other projects like the RSX and Civic, and can't devote much time till Jan '03.
As for what will happen to the SEMA kit. I will warn you to close your eyes and ears if you don't want to listen, because this isn't easy to say:
This unregistered car will be disposed of and crushed under the discretion of Honda Accessories. This includes the bodaciously beautiful 19"-shark-teeth-$20,000 fabricated rims which I would trade my manwhores Soopa and Astroboy for in an instant. Great mother of Satan they were a SIGHT to SEE in person!!
The somewhat positive news: The SEMA car might be shown at a public show for the last time, before being flattened. I will keep in touch with Troy to let you guys know when and where that may happen so you could bid farewell. :'(
So it will really be a SEMA god afterall!

And the molds from the orginal were destroyed long ago. And so definitely a new cousin to the Sema Car will have to be created.

If they didnt wanna mass-produce this thing then why built it in the first place?? All the time, money and energy THEY devoted all goes down the drain. Whats the point if u cant climax after working urself up?

Its not like this is out of the ordinary though, but an industry norm. Prototype vehicles get scrapped eventually to protect their
design from competitors. I bet the security at honda's in-house facilities are just as tough, for the same reason. Its almost like an obsession, because from a business standpoint, its critical to safeguard corporate assets.
Honda's busy with other plans; the CL experiencing sluggish sales does not help in making a convincing case.
After some research in a few weeks, I will see what I can do for now to prepare for a strong and "substantial" case to be presented in Early Jan '03. So, I will keep updating this thread.
