Question 45k mile check up

I just hit 45k miles on my 01 CLS w/Navi.
I bought the car w/32k miles from the dealer in July and the dealer suggested I get the 45k miantenance done for $260! When I asked what they do other than inspect, the only real work is change oil, drain/replace the coolant and brake fluid & rotate tires. I get tire rotation done free @ Discount Tire so why would I want to pay them all that dough? Dealer will drain/replace coolant & brake fluid and change oil for $160! I just want to keep my warranty in good standing. If I tell them to take a hike, will it affect my warranty in the future?

Itemize it to just the things that get replaced. I've never had the dealer suggest I'd have problems by doing that. With your mods they have other excuses to deny warranty work. Besides, didnt they thoroughly inspect the car before they resold it to you?? Sure......

headersplus,

I too have a CLS 01 w/navi. It has 65K and I took it in for the 60K service.
It cost me close to $400.

But, I had them inspect the tranny (free) which I recommend you do also due to the recall.

I just did the oil, coolant, and brake fluid services at 45,000 and a 15,000 inspection (warranty was about to expire or I would have passed on that too but I wanted to see if they would find anything) which costs less than a 45,000 mile inspection for some reason for about $200 w/o rotation. I passed on the rotation since Sears does it for free.

Believe it or not within the first week of buying the car (from the dealer - it had been on a 2 year lease) the tranny went out @ 32k miles. So they replaced it, for free of course.

Yep - I got it from the dealer & they did the whole inspection deal. It had been on a 2 year lease.

What did you get in the 60k service?
