45,000 Maintenance check up
Hey people I'm thinking of taking my 01 CL for a 45,000 mile check up Chevy Chase Dealer quoted me $189.00 for:
Let me know if this is a good price.
45,000 mi/72,000 km/3 yrs Scheduled Maintenance
Replace engine oil.
Rotate tires (follow pattern on page 246 of your owner's manual).
Replace engine oil filter.
Inspect front and rear brakes.
Check parking brake adjustment.
Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box and boots.
Inspect suspension components.
Inspect driveshaft boots.
Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS).
Check all fluid levels, condition of fluids, and check for leaks.
Inspect cooling system hoses and conditions.
#Inspect exhaust system.
#Inspect fuel lines and connections.
#: See information on maintenance and emissions warranty, last column, page 207 of your owner's manual.
Replace brake fluid.
Replace coolant.

That's fair--the coolant and brake fluid change are probably $50 each by themselves. Throw in $30 for oil and filter and $20 for a rotation and you're almost there. The inspections for $40 isn't bad and they migh find something wrong and since your warranty is up in 5000 miles it's cheap insurance.

That sounds like a decent price to me, too. Quick question for you guys tho. I just bought my CL-S at 55,000 miles. When should I get my maintenance check-up? The dealership said since it's a certified vehicle that I don't need to until 90000 miles. What do you guys think?

I just called both of my area Acura dealers about 45K service. One wanted $300, and the other $518! The $518 job included something called an "induction flush" which was supposed to clean the "tops of the valves"?
Both services flushed the brake and cooling systems, in addition to all the usual stuff (oil, filters, inspections). The $300 dealer, interestingly, was going to disassemble all 4 calipers, clean them, lube the rails and put them back together.
I suspect that's there way of getting to a point where they can tell me I need $500 worth of brake work.
