perhaps i misread the stats but... if it's a 1997 freightliner... how did it get speed records pre 1997? guess they didn't mention a swap in chassis.

YEAH! That truck is parked out behind my work right now, saw it on a flatbed as I was leaving. They are going to show it off and start it up for us tomorrow! One of our engineers matched the turbos for that engine, 4 Garrett BTVA85's. After tomorrow it is taking a ride to the Peterson Auto Museum, where it will sit on display in the "Speed - The World's Fastest Cars" exhibit until June 1. Here is another link btw:

That's what I need to get into 12's, another supercharger .

 

I took some pictures and videos of this thing, it was COOL! I'll post them when I get a chance. BTW, it actually has approx. 4500hp @ 3500rpm which equates to 6750 ft-lbs of torque !!!!

Below the two black hopper looking things (where the turbos feed) are the two gear-driven scavenge blowers. They can be bypassed if needed, the turbos produce all the boost.
If you look through the grill in that one pic you will see the intakes... HUGE! I have a video of it starting I will try to post as well...

 

nice pics... How large is that tubing feeding those turbos? it looks like 5 inch pipe!!!

 

They had big rigs at the drags once out at pomona that were running like 15's
