4 lug or 5 lug? What's the difference?

4 lug or 5 lug? What's the difference?

Just curious why car manufacturers use 4 and/or 5 lugs for their different cars in their model lineup. Are 5 lugs stronger?

more lugs can hold more torque, which is why trucks have 6, 8, or 10 lugs. more importantly they can hold more weight w/o stressing the bolts.

Oh, that makes sense. I was just wondering because I noticed the 4 cylinder Accords use a 4 bolt pattern and the 6 cylinders use a 5 bolt. I just didn't think the difference (torque) between the 2 would be enough to justify added strength at the lugs.
