4 Highway Runs with a Crossfire
4 Highway Runs with a Crossfire
Had a chance to do some runs on the highway with a guy in a new Crossfire. We hit it about 3 times from an 80 mph roll. I put about 1.5 car lengths on him by 100 and still pulling until about 110. One run we hit it at about 95-100 right after another run and he caught me in the dreaded fourth gear. He put about 1/2 car on me mostly because I wasn't ready then we stayed even until about 115 or so then shut down. I was surprised it hung that well. Still had temp tags on it so it will probably get faster as the engine breaks in some.

Why? They are slow. Not worth my time for sure. Now the next gen one that has like 300+hp, that will be something to run with.

We're already starting to lose our edge at 80 in 3rd anyway... I'd prefer to know what it can do from a 5-10mph or dead stop... since that'd be most likely the fight I would pick with a Crossfire.

Given Flint's mods I'd say that car isn't exactly SLOW. Looks like it could be close in a stock CLS auto.

Even if flint was stock that still wouldn't be considered slow. I'd like to know how they do from light to light.

215hp/229tq w/ either a 5-spd auto or 6-spd manual
3060lbs <----right here is your answer, it's 500lbs lighter than a CL-S

I think it's more gearing, & cause it's RWD. They have 18's up front & 19's in the rear. That's alot of rolling weight to push. I did test drive a stick, & thought it was VERY slow. Even stock for stock with my 6 speed. It doesn't pull off the line well at all. In any case, any CLS should have no problems takeing it.

Here in NJ, the Crossfire if very common..........on dealer lots!!! I hardly see any of them on the streets though. The only Chrysler product that peaks my interest is the SRT4 and Viper. The rest of the lineup makes Ford's offerings seem very appealing. Just my $.02.
Flint that Crossfire should not have been able to hang with you, given your current mods.
