We've been talking about this since 2003 when the CL was discontinued...

Vtec.net still lists a ~$40-50k pricerange, sub NSX Unnamed (Acura) Sports Car/Coupe...

With even the lowly Altima getting a coupe version ( https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ma#post5124704 ), you would think by now Acura would have a coupe in their lineup... The NSX is still a couple years away, the RSX is gone (not really a coupe, but a hatchback anyways), so only time will tell if Acura wants to be the luxury brand without a coupe...

Maybe once the NSX is done Acura will concentrate on an affordable coupe, but I've already started looking elsewhere for my next car...

By 2008, Acura wants to put out a new 2009 NSX V-10 front engine, but most likely it will have SH-AWD.

Acura's next coupe is rumored to be off the lowly TSX. ugh. and maybe a convertible ugh.

ok, let's drop the Prelude, the Legend Coupe, the NSX, the RSX, the Integra, and the CLS.

i have to say i think the most realistic coupe we see next will be a TSX variant w/ 4 cyl turbo (rdx) and sh-awd, but more than likely fwd is acura decides not to move everything over to awd. then i'd wager we see a v8 in the RL, and then a higher end v8/v10 coupe to follow, we MIGHT even see a concept v8 at the auto show next year, but i still dont think itll be released before the upgrade to the RL

I have always liked the look of the CL and was disappointed when they stopped making it. Maybe some day it willl come back.

How many of the current CL owners could even afford a new CL IF Acura even decided to build it? Realistically? I couldn't to be perfectly honest, at least not right now.

If I had to guess, I'd say a new model would fall between $40k - $50k+ like GM stated depending on what it's based off of. I think it would be pretty stupid for Honda to build one based off of anything less than a TL and as it stands right now, the TL Type S is going for about $38k+ MSRP as I just looked at one a little over a week ago. IMHO, it is NOT worth it. The competition stomps Acura as far as I'm concerned when it comes to getting the power to the ground. Come on, FWD!? What a waste. Furthermore, if it does in fact turn out to be moreless a V-10, AWD, NSX replacement, forget about it. Thats gonna run you over $75k and probably closer to $100k and now you're talking exotic, not luxury coupe. It's not even remotely close to a "CL replacement", it's an NSX replacement. So where does that leave us? With no CL replacement.

Also, even if they come out with a turbo charged TSX variant coupe, like CleanCL said, you're still more than likely talking 4cyl w/FWD. Again, not a CL replacement.

Also, I don't follow any of the other boards so I can't state any facts on the subject but if Honda's not putting a V8 into the Ridgeline, what makes you guys think you will see one in the RL or any other future sedan? If there is talk about a V8 in the truck, I'd like to know about it. Personally, I don't think the truck can stand up to competition without it. However, I do like the truck but unless it had that V8 or the proverbial V10 I'd never even consider it.

Just sharing my , not trying to bash anyone by any means.

I see what you are saying but in reality there has been an Accord coupe offered for many many years. I don't really see it as a "CL replacement" and not to mention, I'm certain we can all agree that the Accord coupe doesn't contain quite the class of the CL. That said, we've all been over the 'ole CL vs. Accord coupe debate many times and I'd hate to revisit that.

Forget it, not only did they discontinue the whole slew of Acura coupes, but they also discontinued the S2K, and now have NO rwd options avaiilable. So now you get no coupe or rwd. I don't see the difficulty in entering a market that is doing so awesome, with the 3 series, IS350/250, the G35, hell, even the MB CLK, i mean, there is a market for a simple rwd coupe styled after the TL for $30-$40k, WTF!! Open your eyes Acura.

This reminds me of Subaru when I worked for them. For years and years Subaru refused to put out a high performance vehicle in the US besides the XT or the SVX. But after years and years they finally gave in and we saw the first 2.5RS which turned into an instant success over night and now Suby wants to throw a turbo in everything. Duh! Maybe Honda will catch on someday, who knows.

I could, but after taking the beating depreciation-wise on my 6spd, I'd be learly to jump back into the whole "new car" thing again anytime soon...

The quicker the next gen CL comes out, the sooner it'll be on the used car market If they don't come out with a new coupe till 2009, then I'll be waiting till 2011 till they hit the used car market...

Oh, did you know that when the S197 ('05) Mustang came out values of the last gen went up due to the interest in the new model ?? Heck, the intro of the 2003 CLS 6spd probably helped boost values on the old legend 6spd coupes...

Yeap, and with an Accord, you know they won't be discontinuing it any time soon...

I think H/A figure that if you want a v6 FWD coupe, just buy an accord... Heck, when I was test driving cars when I was shopping for the CLS, I drove an accord right before I test drove the CL... If you want a RSX, buy a Civic SI...

I test-drove the Accord coupe 6MT/6cylinder when it first came out, maybe in 2003 or 4. I loved that 6 speed/6cylinder combo so much that I traded in my Legend Coupe for the same setup in the 03 CLS/6MT.

Honda has no discontinued the S2000...yet. But im pretty sure they have plans. It is out once again for 2007 though.

Me, personally, I believe they're going to try and become like Pontiac. They killed off all of their good cars (FireChicken, TransAm, and WS6), and switched over to all sedans. But their sedans all have a "sporty side." It's done will for them. Most of their sedans have moderate/decent power for their class. And that's how I see Acura heading.

This is my guess. Acura has really pumped up the new TL and I wouldn't be surprised to see an AWD TL in for 08 or 09. I'd guess the CL days are gone like the Legend. As for the member who wondered how many peeps who own cl's now would be able to afford a 40k+ new acura, not many. Many of the new members are of the younger crowd still finding their status. Cheers.

Sorry, but I have to chime in on this one. From my perception of Honda, they are a motor company not a car company. Their goal is to use the auto market to entice buyers to cross purchase, which works. I have a Honda Mower, Weed Eater, and a CBR for example. In reference to the CL/CL-S I do not see the car re-energized into the market. So far the G35 Coupe and BMW 3 series coupes are the only cars that offer a true enthusiast driving characteristic in the sub 40K range.

Don't get me wrong. It would be sweet to see an Acura Coupe come into play, with a six cylinder (330hp plus), 6 speed, and all wheel drive or rear wheel drive that seats four people comfortably. But I don't think that segment of the market carries enough interest for Honda to dive back into.
