3rd gear grind/pop TSB now out

i'm sure many of you have heard of the problems that the TL and Si have had, but I've never heard of anyone having problems with our cars. however, ACURA has just released a TSB for ours cars as well.

Why did they included the 03CLS? It's 5 years, almost none would be covered under warranty which makes this TSB useless because we would have to pay for the fix.

The purpose of a TSB is to give the Techs a heads up on a problem which can save troubleshooting time.

Just because it's not covered by warranty doesn't make it useless.

Hmmm...3rd gear really hasn't been an issue, it more like 2nd gear for me. Even that got alot better with syncromesh.

The TSB isn't useless. Including it on a car that's clearly out of warranty now days is.

I have to admit that it has happened to me numerous times where 3rd didn't work. I'm going to try to get this done along with some other service that I need...

Key word there being "TRY"

Why is a TSB on a car not under warranty useless?

A TSB is a technical tip to the mechanics, warranty has nothing to do with it.

It's not just a tech tip for a dealer tech. It's not like a memo that says "procedure change" It's a notice that some cars can have this problem & here's how to fix it.

If your car has this problem & your out of warranty why should the dealer not cover it when cars with warranty will cover it? They have documentation that it's a problem it should cover all effected cars warranty or not.

I've been burned by TSB's before so I'm biased I guess.

If the car is in warranty, problems are covered. If it's out, they are not. What difference does it make if the problem is mentioned in a TSB or not?

Warranty is for a specific period, when it's gone it's gone. Are you trying to say that if the manufacturer should only send out TSB's for warranty work?

How do you get burned by a TSB?

Warranty or not a TSB is out to inform the dealer that there is a problem and the correct way to go about resolving the issue. If some one is having the issue and is out of warranty instead of having to pay for a whole new trans now they can just pay for the fix

that is some shit.

Out of warranty: Any repair performed after warranty
expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by
the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone
Office. You must request consideration, and get a
decision, before starting work.

There's some good news for you 6 speeders out of warranty.

This is a repost it was posted in car talk already.
Effects the CL, TL TSX & RSX, however 3rd gear grinding hasn't been a problem with the CLS.

Every once in a while 3rd gear grinds but I always assumed it was because I didn't have the clutch pedal pushed down far enough.

Has anybody presented this to a dealer and, if so, what were they told?
