3M Perfect-it II for scratches

Anyone know how this stuff works ?

Used it this morining to take completely out 2 scratches on the drivers door. Was so impressed that i used it on the front bumper, and before you know it looks like new.

All i say if you have light to med scratches get 3M Perfect-it II

It safely and effectively removes scratches, contains no wax or silicone. Clear coat safe.

I do agree... 3M does make some very nice stuff. I like companies that do not rely on advertising to sell their products (Like Turtle wax etc..) But they do make a great line of products...
They make a great swirl remover to.

I love 3M Perfect-it II, this stuff works great, try it with a buffer and then use some of their glaze.

Thats the product there, I bought it at a local automotive shop, but you can use that 3M website to find a store that will have it in your area.

Seems they have a few other products worth buying after just browsing there website.

it's a chemical cutting compound. it uses chemicals instead of grit to polish out scratches.

awesome stuff, don't get it in your eye though.

After a few hours went by, i pressured sprayed and and then went thru the Mobil brushless car wash ( too lazy to hand dry it lol ), and surprising enough it was still the same as when i applied it.

Does it stay on forever ? I really dont know, But considering it only cost $13 and to have been quoted $150 by the local dealer. I'll take the 2mins to apply it, i've noticed it gives a nice smooth finish and looks like new paint with no swirl marks. So i'm considering in buy in other 3M product that removes them completely similar to Pi-II.

I like Meg's #2 over 3MP-Fine Cut. Followed up with #9 and #26. But I agree 3M makes quality products... I use their polishing compound for bumper cleanup.

I'll have to see if the local AutoZone has it.

Or is that not considered "decent"?

I know my local Pep Boys carries a lot of the 3M and Meguiars Pro stuff. Also, check the yellow pages for detailing supply shops or automotive paint supply shops. They seem to carry a lot of this stuff.

I see they have fine and medium cut, any thought as to which would be better, the fine would be safer i assume.

Yeah start with fine. Remember, you can't put paint/clear back once you take it off.

good point, well i plan to have the car detailed this month, my friends cousin owns a place, so i was hoping he could work on the scratches, but i think i'd like to have that stuff anyway, maybe give it a once over before i let him do it.

i believe he means to be careful because you can burn through the paint.

yes you can put the paint/clear back on but you have to repaint.

I've seen it online for about $11-$15 depending on where you buy it.

I talked to a rep for 3M he said as long as i use fine and follow the instructions and not to mix it with anything else, it would not take clear coat nor the paint off.

if you use it by hand, no problem.

it's when you start using it w/ a buffer you need to be careful.

I did a search and found this site, for $9.49 you can't beat that.

http://www.goodspeedmotoring.com/subcat.php?man_id=1

Also they seem to have a excellent Detailing FAQ.....

http://www.goodspeedmotoring.com/?page=detailing

mattg

I've only used a soft cloth to apply a very small amount, as that was more the enough to remove the scratches that i have.

thanks for the advice....
