3000GT and BmW 740iL
Well, two races in two days.
First a girl in a 3000GT (not SL or VR4). No chance, had her by a few car lengths. Even chirped second gear again!
Second was a guy in a bmW 740iL. Both good launches. fell back to his door into second, but at upper second started to reel him in. Shut down just after hitting 3rd and he kept going. I shut down with about my nose about 3 feet ahead of his nose. Nice run.
M5Lite, how are the 740's? Just wondering....

He kept accelrating, I'd say he kept in it into the 80's easy. (oh and he was on his cell phone too, though he had an earbud at least so it's not like he was racing with one hand)

What year 740 was it? Do you know if it was the newer shape (e38)?
Those cars have 282HP w/ 310-324ft/lb depending on E38 year.
I've actually had problems keeping up w/ my friend's 740iL at 60+MPH w/ my M3. I've lost to him at the top end. You can take the 740iL easy without a problem down low, but when that puppy starts moving, even I'm hesitant on putting up a fight.
Of course with the 540i now w/ the 6-speed, I feel more confident, but it should still be very close. However those cars also have the 'sport' program (where they switch into '4' on the gear box) which can sometimes be hard to fight against.
Forgot to mention those are heavy little f-ers. My dream e38 would have to be a 740i (not iL, 'i' is 6 inches shorter, reduces weight) w/ a 6-speed. They only sell these in Europe, so that makes it a dream
Nice kill! Keep em counting!

I'd say a 1999 or 2000. What's weird is you say that you have trouble up top. That's where I started to real him in. I know he didn't let off because he kept accelerating after I left off. I found a 'mag' time of 15.3@93.3. So with the nice cool temps yesterday, id say a 15.0-15.3 car. Sound about right? IF that's the case, then I'm REALLY looking forward to the track on sunday as I should be high 14's! Supposed to be partly sunny with a HIGH of 52* and LOW dew point and humidity! PERFECT race weather! Hoping for some nice traction and good times!

First time I passed 70 in a street race!) I was still pullling ahead when I shutdown. So Even if I went a full 1/4 into the 90's, it looks like he probably would be completely behind me at the rate I was starting to pull.

15.3? for a 740iL? That sounds too forgiving for that car. I'd say more around 15.9 or very low 16s. 15.3 is probably for the 740i.

True, I'd say you may be closer in the times. I think that may be accurate as I did hesitate a sec before nailing it fully to be sure he was racing. I did launch harder than normal, but not WOT. I'd say i went WOT at around 5 mph. Oh well, LIke I said can't wait to see my times at the track Sunday.

My dad owns a 740iL ... a 1999 ... he never races me. He's hit it a couple times, but by butt-meter says our car's faster on the low end, but the thing rocks at high speed ...

Byron this Sunday. You asked if a beamer could come so I figured you were coming to the track. THere should be a few people from CLubGP there, however, the response from this board has been virtually non-existent.
OH well, it liooks like it'll be perfect race weather on Sunday. 56 and sunny.

I missed it to. Wasn't feeling well at all.. Not too many made it out. Don't think ANYONE from here went and only 3 people from ClubGP went sunday. A lot more made it out Saturday and had another few break into the 12's with a couple on the verge. From what I heard, staging was kind of messed up and even without it being too busy, waits were about 30 minutes between runs.
