New grille design looks good and should match headlights better I would think.

When are you driving down to meet? I am thinking early Friday.

You are kind of far from me, but if you need an extra set of hands to help I could drive up for a weekend to reach meet deadline. No wife or kids for me so weekends are free time unless there is a car event scheduled.

Thanks, yea i pulled it out further ,(than what the stock one attached to the hood) to go with the curve of the headlights/bumper better.

Not sure when time wise i was going to head down. Been kinda busy lately and havent checked to see when others from chi area were heading down. Im sure i will work something out to caravan with others/you.

Thanks, i may take you up on that. Once painted there is a ton of reassembly to do And interior cleaning, there is probably 100lbs of dust inside of it

I am great at doing grunt work. Let me know. I can come up May 23-24 or June 6-7.

I don't think some of the Chicago guys like me very much after making a comment one year about not wanting to caravan with them because they drive 100mph+. Swoosh drove back to Chicago with them last year though and said the drive was good. The Chicago Guys seem to make their own plans for weekend and only come to the car show. I don't see them at any of the other events during weekend.

hahah yeah...the drive wasnt too bad but I dont mind driving slightly fast

they stopped couple times...I like to stop once every ~5 hours (350-400 miles)...and I have dont multiple Chicago trips with only 1 stop but the folks stopped like 3-4 times...other than that it was fun...

we did couple runs but for the most part, we were doing 80

I dont mind driving fast, its driving slow i dont like. Ill typically do 80-85 anyway, and depending on the interstate/traffic/gut feeling sometimes faster.

I typically stop every time the car needs gas as well, 350- 450 depending on the driving.

Yea, i have a PC too, i just have never wetsanded and polished a car using only a DA buffer. I always started out with the rotary buffer (dewalt) and a 9-11" woll pad for the initial cut and polish then moved to the DA for the finish work

Anything i can do to help i will.

A 2-3k wetsand scratch and the DA with a wool pad and some aggressive compound shouldnt be too bad. But yea a rotary would make quicker work of it. Ill probably go pick up a new one before hand to make life easier.

Even the best looking finishes need wetsanding. After a good wetsanding and polishing you will be like WTF, why didnt i do this sooner.
