good question, id never waste my time at an 1/8 mile track, it doesnt give a 100% accurate indication, and its definately not as fun.....you gotta take that beast to a REAL track and get some REAL numberS!!

typeR, can you tell what you did to get ready for the track
tire psi, ss or gate shift, what rpm did you launch, what rpm you shift at, gas level, etc.

Have you modified your 3.5L engine at all? I drive an MDX and have a custom intake and it defineatly added some hp. I think I'm going to be getting some pulleys for it as well when I get a chance.

ok...ill try to answer all at once...the 1/8th mile is 1/2 hour away and it's just as fun...and not only that it's more like what you'd do on the street...
race prep was let the gas get low...i have permenantly removed my jack and spare meaning i dont just take it out for the track...i ended up lowering the fron pressure alot to keep from going up in smoke but the MPH did suffer...spring spacers in the rear to help minimize rear end squat and the rear pressure at 72 psi
this engine though it has the same discplacement as the MDX has little else except the block that's the same.

No, parts from the MDX are not used - that's a totally different block. They just stroke our 3.2L. You basically get a set of new pistons, etc, to put in the stock bottom end. Crank figures: 300hp/260torque. End of story.

Acura 3.5L block in the RL is a 90-degree V6 and is not part of the Accord, Acura CL/TL/MDX family (those being 60-degree V-6 engines)

Also, the rick case acura guy told me they didnt use the MDX block because it has a more restrictive flow.
Point is, silly, they dont use an Acura block - they machine parts to turn OUR 3.2L BLOCK into a 3.5L block by stroking it.

Ok hypothetical question I've always wanted 2 ask,
Say I get the engine enlarged to 3.5 Liters and I decide on putting an s/c on it...Now would I be able to use the 98-02 accord v6 pistons and cams since they have a 9.5-9.6:1 compression ratio instead of the 10.85:1 ratio that comes w/ the enlarged block? Would the accord piston and cams fit, b/c if they did wouldn't I be able to run considerable more boost then comptech's 4.5psi? (say I do all this to a 6speed CL) Thanks

Actually, it’s the other way around (assuming that the pistons stay the same -- they don't). However, when you stroke the engine you increase the swept area. The area above the piston (at TDC) is called the combustion chamber volume; this area remains the same. So, if you increase the stroke of the piston, you are increasing ratio of "swept volume".
Terms:
SV = swept volume (just the volume "swept" by the moving piston that does NOT include the are above the piston at TDC).
CCV = combustion chamber volume (the area above the piston at TDC)
THE compression ratio, CR is:
CR = (SV + CCV)/CCV
If you increase SV (the swept volume), you are going to increase the compression ratio. I did some early calcs and if the pistons where not changed, the compression ratio would go from 10.5:1 to 11.26:1.
This assumes that the pistons are identical and the compression rings are in the same location, etc, etc...
So, the "stroked" 3.5L engine actually needs some "slugs" to drop the compression ratio down to 10.85:1 (close enough to 10.5:1) and worth a small gain in power.
AS for the cam issue -- that isn't going to impact the compression ratio. There might be some possibilities of using a different set of cams along with some porting and valve changes to accommodate the altered rod ratio and cylinder filling... It would depend on 5-speed auto vs. tighter ratio 6-speed and how "level" the torque would need to be relative to "peaky" gains...

You might want to ask MDX-S if he could "punt" out a 3.5L with lower compression slugs. You could always ask. (I think you could probably get away with the small “bump” in compression from 10.5:1 to 10.85:1)
IMO, I would worry more about supplying the fuel with the current fuel pressure regulator and injectors with a S/C and 3.5L.
And, if you were in CA, you might run into problems with emissions depending on just how close the numbers are with the CLS S/C when they get it CARB'd. If you are out of CA -- you don't need to sweat this...

Thanks EricL and everyone else for responding I see what everyone is saying and who knows maybe there will be someone who will get the 3.5 L conversion and add the s/c to it
p.s. The new accord 6speed utilizes (from the research I have done) the same clutch as the 6speed CL-S, thus in a few years, I'm pretty sure there will be upgraded aftermarket clutch for the v6accord. I'm thinking that Cl 6speed owners can utilize that aftermarket clutch and thus harness more power w/less worry

Kinda hard to control......... trq steer would be too much at that point. however, Scalbert is considering it or atleast a S/C.
