3.5L Vs. WS6
3.5L Vs. WS6
just an update...last week the run i told you guys about was an LS1 it's a dude i knew and i was thinking it was him, but, couldnt tell it was night....he thought i had him on the top end...he was surprised and asked if i had done something different from the last time we were out?...i said no ,not that i meant to be lieing...mugen T stat ,fan and koni's....didnt think it made that much diffeence, still dont....just finally got a good pull....he shut it down at about 90 thinking i had him on the top end...funny...thats when he would have started to go buy if he had just stayed on it....more to come....oh ya auto A4 (eaisiest to launch) exhaust ,and thats about it...

WS6...problem here is i dont no what year it was? it had the big ram air hood kinda of pointed front pop up head lights and the big round fogs...this is on the way back from trying to get the stanger to go....were driving fast but he doesnt seem to want any...i go by this vette C5 hoping he'll play win or lose i dont care and he just minds his own...now this time me and the vette catch a light and the WS6 pulls in behind the vette (good choice ) figuring the vettte 's gonna smoke me and he'll have room to get by me as well...well the vette doesnt wanna play, fine by me...but i roll out and then hit it hard and the 6 tries to go around and catch up...but he cant...now me and him have the light....here's where he makes a mistake, instead of the hard launch..where i think his advantage lies...we roll out half throttle then about one car hit it hard and im in front...2 nd still in front 3rd looks like he's comin but he doenst get there ,100 mph comin up quick.. looks like he could go by, but he shuts it down....after that he wouldnt drive past me wouldnt look over,,,nothin...too bad i would have just given the thumbs up and said cool...i guess thumbs up from the ricer is no good...oh BTW 60* and very dry...nicey nice

type R, i have some slips of stock ls1's i ran against. the slowest one i ranagainst went 13.9 cause it was spinning bad, but they do trap at like 110 if i remember correctly
i'm not doubting your kill because driver skill is very key in racing but most well driven ls1's can go 13.2-13.4, and some factory freaks have even gone 12.9
at my gym i talk to this guy w/ a ws6 6 speed, hes an avg driver i'd say, runs 13.40's w/ 2.2 60 foots, i think its possible to get a 1.9 or maybe even a 1.8 60 foot out of an ls1 though. so theres like 3/10's right there

13.4 to a 13.7 on the street is neck and neck...and where they shine is third gear which by 80 mph usually your done on the street not enough time for the L to do its walk...but you're way off on the trap 104 -105 id say is average ive gone 102

My friend's 02 WS6 ran a 13.7 @ 102.8 stock. That was with out the front sway bar, 44 psi in the front tires, and icing the intake for 30-45 min before each run. This was on a 45 degree night with decent track conditions. So yeah- they can trap that slow if the driver is sub par. I would think that car should be around 107 mph with all those little tricks on a cold night.

I ran 13.4-13.5 at 106-107 stock all day long(292rwhp 314rwtq). Then with only a LID(intake) and a catback i ran 13.0 at 109-110 and that was with 325rwhp 336rwtq. Now i just installed headers and gained another 22rwhp and 27rwtq and I'm sure i will trap in the range of 112-113 with mid 12's time slips. U can view the dyno sheet in the sig just to get an idea on how fast LS1's are. U might just raced a weak one.
the part that you guys have to fully understand is: one we rolled out then hit it...givinh away some of the A4's launch advatage then last we shut down right aorund 90 right when the LS1's sweet spot was coming on...i know im not gonna beat LS1 in the 1/4 but i might in the 1/8th...and on the street to 90 it doesnt have to be a bad driver to find himself half a car back or half a car ahead...
