some real world temp differences,
in august i ran a 14.32 @ 98.09 in high 70 degree weather

but in october i ran a 14.16 @ 99.11 in 50 degree weather

passenger seat, rear seats removed, trunk stripped for the 14.32 run.

full interior w/ trunk stripped for the 14.16 run, also backet it up w/ a 14.17

looks to me the biggest advantage typeR has is the torque down low, not so much top end power. as my fastest trap speed is a 99.77 also.

Money is NOT a variable. Weather is..............
I ran with 14.80 with similar weather that Type R ran in and got laughed at. High humidity is a killer for performance. I'm sure when I go back to the track with temps in the 40s and low humidity I will run a 14.4 no problem.

For day-to-day driving, that broadband torque increase sure comes in handy. It also is a kind of "back-assward" fix for the too-tall 4th gear.

There may also be more room for top end improvement TOO...

The rod ratio does an nice job of punching the air flow up through the lower- and mid-range RPMs. The "original" 3.5L-XXX???XXX was reported to have "mild" headwork (port, polish, etc). It's possible to start pulling too much air velocity for the "current" setup (exactly where and how is speculation). IOW, a little upper-end massaging might keep the low-end torque up while extending the torque further up the rev range...

The torque gain across the whole band in the 3.5L vs. 3.2L dyno is pretty “fat.”

Finally, I think the wheels are stock… Perhaps Type-R will comment on his exact setup.

Well, 0.15- to 0.16-second drop in ETs with a 20-degree F drop is reasonable AND it is even more impressive based on the weight issue (seats, trunk, etc). (Cool is nice, cold is better )

The consistency of the 14.16 & 14.17 ETs couldn't hurt for making a point regarding temps. (I'll wager it wasn't too humid either - hey?)

Is everything that changed noted in your comment?

EDIT: Based on your going to different tracks (your comment below), the differences could be minor or huge... (Ice rink vs. sticky trap surface and altitude issues)...

What exactly is in this 3.5 kit? displacement? Does the engine still look stock? How much did it cost? Where did you order it from. Thanks in advance.

Erase everything I just said about your comparison runs. Adding-in the different track (and track surface, etc) as one or more variables, just makes for more speculation...

ericL heres another run for you to analize:good 1/4 compared to best 1/8th the 1/8th was done at around 65*
.661 *** .591

2.138 *** 2.098

6.023 *** 5.889

9.127 *** 8.969
@78.89 *** @79.35

11.824 ****

14.061 ****
@ 100.21

at the 60' foot i am .050 behind my best...at the 1/8th im still .050 behind...however at the 1000' im only .020 and finish the 1/4 with that same defecite obviously i was making more power on that run ...im thinking when i get my 50* weather and my SSR competition wheels a 13.8** @ 103-4 do you think this sounds unreasonable?
