So my sister calls me up and tells me that her ex boyfriend wants to race me for 20 dollars. I agreed assuming that he had the same car he raced me in before (old thunderbird.) That night we met up and his thunderbird was no where to be seen. I asked him where his car was and he pointed to the black 91 vr-4 next to him. He asked if i still wanted to race and i told him to fuck off ;-) After a while, knowing that i was going to get slaughtered, i agreed to race him for the hell of it. While we came up to a light and had no traffic ahead, he revved to signal the race. Right before we took of, a while sl rolled up and heard our engines revving. He revved and we all took off as soon as the light turned green. Needless to say the vr-4 with its damn all wheel drive hooked up so fast he was 4 cars ahead of me by the time i crossed the intersection. We raced about a 3/4 of a mile, with the vr-4 ahead by countless car legnths and the sl behind me about 7. I am no longer putting any performance ANYTHING in my car. It is pointles. I say "all show and no go" I am going to race him in a month when i get my new r-1. Than we'll see who wins.

 

lol you're going to have to give him a 20 car head start in order for it to be the least bit challenging

 

speaking of the R-1 i saw a R-1 wreck right before my eyes pullin a wheelie with his crew last night

 

Thats the way to do it. If ya can't beat him in your car, just bring out the bike.

 

I use to have a black 97 vr-4, i miss her soo bad I use to love giving headstarts and playing with people.

 

No TQ and 18s vs AWD = Straight ownage. Nice try.

 

I believe the VR4 part of it but the SL wasn't racing. There's no way a 3.0 CL even beats a 3000GT let alone beats one by 7 cars! So, nice death & BS.

If he was not racing, than 120+ in a 45 is kind of fast for normal driving. In a perfect world i am sure he has the advantage, but driver error is a big factor in racing. I am sure everyone who has raced beat someone they "should have" lost to. I am not saying that i can smoke sl's all the time, just in this race he was behind quite a bit. Maybe he braked for the bend while myself and the vr4 did not.

 

3.0 CL 3,285 lbs. and 200 hp
VS.
3000gt SL 3,370 lbs. and 220 hp

i think multiple 3.0's have beaten SL's on the board

 

So have Accords.

 

Cuz the SL's are old... not running as strong anymore. <shrug>

 

A 85 lb weight difference in the CL's favor and a 20hp advantage for the SL........that just doesn't seem to translate into a 7 car win for the CL. I would guess the guy thought better and wasn't going to be an idiot driving 120+ mph in a 45 zone.

 

And that is probably what he was thinking.
