3.0 CL vs. BMW 325i?
So, my best buddy just got a 2002 BMW 325i as a graduation gift. He dosn't know much about cars and dosn't know how to road race (or even power brake for that matter).
I have a 3.0 CL with an intake and soon to get a magnaflow exhaust set up.
'02 BMW 325i (5-speed auto)
Size: 2.5l I6 DOHC
Horses: 184
Torque: 175
Weight: 3170 (with 12" sub and heavy ass amp)
Price: $13,000
vs.
'97 Acura CL 3.0 (4-speed auto)
Size: 3.0l V6 VTEC
Horses: 210 (with intake and exhaust)
Torque: 200 (with intake and exhaust)
Weight: 2090 lbs (no spare tire or badges. )
Price: $3,000
He has all that antiskid, TCS, something that boosts start performance; but I know how to power brake. Who would win?

nahh.. the CL is already 3090 or so curb weight.. but because u got those intakes and exhaust , ud probably take it.. otherwise stock for stock i got my money on bmw. no way a CL is near 2000lbs....

IMO you should have him, though he might be a little quicker off the line because of the shorter gearing of the transmission...he's heavier and less powerfull so you should pull on him once you get moving

Type-o on the CL's weight. The curb weight is 3009 lbs. (on consumer auto)
I took out the spare tire when I got the car so I'd say -20 lbs or so
I meant: 2990 lbs. not 2090 lbs.
Would be cool if some kind mod could edit.

I raced the same exact model but a manual and it has intake exhaust and a few other minor mods. I smoked him from a roll and start but im a second gen but also heavier and stock. IMO ull get him either from a roll or from dead start. shouldnt be a blow out either way i dont think honda engines are always surprising (to non honda drivers) on the top end. let us know how that goes. always feels good to beat a beemer

i still say the beemer will pull after 60 mph.

beemers are underrated in terms of performance.
the main issues with this race is the j30 auto tranny. its just not made for acceleration and shifts slowly. the steptronic in the beemer is as good as some manuals IMO.

and you're giving your 3.0 too much credit on the weight, thats how much a 2.2 base model weighs.
and you didn't gain that much hp on an intake and exhaust if you're untuned.
so pretty much, i think you'll be even until about 3rd gear where you'll start to top out around 80mph and you'll have a slow time getting upto 4th gear while the bmw will already be in 4th making his way into 5th and will be slowly pulling on you.
