Well today it happened (6:15pm). I was comming down Mt. Laural Ave. and this woman in a Nissan 200sx opens her door and I hit it. I tried to swerve to the left, but there was another car comming in the opposite direction. My front right fender is pushed in, and when I take hard left turns it rubs.
I called the police and the cop said when somebody opens a door into traffic it's the person openign the door's fault. But, since there was another car it is now a gray area.
I called my insurance agent (a good friend of my dad's). Het husband saw it happen and said she hardly opened the door. I beg to differ. She opened it all the way, and I couldn't get left enough to avoid hitting it.
Two things I'm worried about, the cop said its a gray area. I want all OEM parts. None of this el cheapo MAACO crap. If they do a 50/50 split or something, will the insurance want me to go somewhere cheap to get this fixed? I want to take it to Reading Acura's body shop. Can anyone offer any tips/suggestions? Another thing, this car has those bright Xenon lights, people can see those a mile away.
I've never had an accident. No speeding tickets, no nothing. I'm 22, this is going to suck for my rates. I just washed the thing too. The company I work for company uses digicams all the time for what we do. I'll post pics as soon as I figure out hwo to do so.
