I really don't see the point of Acura continuing CL for a few more year. Lucky I ordered mine already
1) sales is horrible on this car for some reason.
2) 03 Accord cost much less and performs about the same.

I would really like to see the sales history up to current sales. Im curious now. Sales would have to be real bad for them to discontinue and i dont think that they're that bad!

Happy CL-S Pilot
I just went today to the local Acura dealer... they had at least 7 brand new 03 CL-S... did not check if they are stick or Auto, but the lot is packed with cars... I think they have problem moving out cars...and They are expanding! Almost 2x bigger... and bigger lot too...

Anyway, I think they will finish out the model cycle then either change it or replace it. It doesn't really cost them anything in R&D to continue the car another year. So, as long as they aren't totally losing money on the CL, it will stay until the four years are up on this cycle.

its a question which no one has or can answer until honda/acura annouces it themselves... (or we see spy pics)
so its needless to ask cos everyone does nothing but speculate.

lol, that's funny. shaHn78 just get's done saying "everyone does nothing but speculate."...and the very post is more speculation (presented as fact.)
I agree with you. We can all guess but it means NOTHING until we hear it from Acura (and I'm not talking about Acura dealers, I mean corporate.)

Yes I agree, it’s not looking too good for the CL.
The new Accord is just too much of the same for less money.
You are giving up some luxury, but not a ton.
Maybe there will be a 2004 CL, but after that I’m guessing a MAJOR upgrade or they kill it all together.
I don’t really want to see it killed, but it doesn’t really matter to me as I plan to keep mine for several years.
Resale value isn’t going to mean much to me when I’m selling it with 100K on the clock.

It sounds iffy to me. Probably 50/50. But I think the will produce the CL in 2004 just so they can get the money out of their tooling. Hey, RunnerX, sounds like you will get your new car soon and good for you. But I have a question. Realize, I apply automotive paint for a living (mostly powder coatings, in a R and D setting), and I am often asked to apply asthetically pleasing coatings on wheels, mirror housings, etc, that get shown to big whigs in Detroit, and I get to pick the colors, metal flakes etc.
I have never seen a Tafetta white anything, but the impression I got from the color chip in the sales brochure I can only describe as a "dirty" white, or more adeptly, a washed out, light yellow.
does it really look OK to you? Probably a stupid question, I know, because you wouldn't have bought it if you didn't like it. Then again, every so often I see pink cadillacs. And in the Chicago area where people customize their civics like mad, I have seen some entirely repainted civics in colors that defy explanation. Is the color chip in the brochure correct? If so, no offense, but I couldn't live with it, but, like many things, color is a subjective quality. Just curious, and enjoy your car when you get it.
And I am just guessing here, runnerx, but if you last ride was an RSX, boy, are you in for a pleasant suprise when you get the CL (except for filling up the tank. Ouch!)

I think it's possible, Honda comes out with a 6spd Accord for 2003....then only makes about 1,000 available. Obviously, they don't want it to cut into CL 6spd sales.
It could be possible that the CL will leave in 2004, Honda will then produce more 6spd Accords to around. So people mourning the death of the CL, can get an Accord coupe that more or less is essentially the same for less $$ (style aside). With Spoilers and an Aero package available from the dealer, fog light kit.
With the CL gone, Acura will focus on the 2004 TL.....then in 05, maybe there will be a new coupe or maybe there won't.
I'm just Speculating, but with Honda going all out with the new Accord (which they had too), just makes you wonder.

i haven't heard anything more about it until this, but dealers aren't all that reliable for information.

Too bad... I think the CL is the best bang for the buck in the "luxury coupe" market... Heck, I'm probably going to buy one in the next month or so anyway.
Can anyone in the know confirm the $2-3k rebate mentioned on this link? That would certainly make me hold off on my purchase if true for another month or so.... that's a lot of scratch. Thnx.

CL dead???
The Japanese are starting to look like GM with all the the generic branding going on lately. Even Nissan is doing the same....G35 Coupe, "Z", Altima, new Maxima etc.......boring. Well we still have our "Goldie" in the family. After the snows this winter in Nashville, we have decided to keep the mountain goat. Let Honda kill it, but we're enjoying the exclusivity of a car that really does everything quite well thanks. Hey we can find it in a parking lot too!

i dont know why CL does so poorly in sales. First off the CL is still worth the $3,000-4,000 more than the Accord is in my opinion. Resale values on Acura is a little higher plus you're getting top of the line. Also the CL is a very attractive and classier than the accord coupe, which looks a little ricey and everybody and their mom drives and Accord. The CL also has the perfect blend of power, sportiness, and luxury, etc. In my opinion this is the best $30,000 car out there, but maybe im a little bias since i just bought one. Since i have bought mine I have got tons of compliments from random people on the road. Its funny how everybody thinks its a 40k car.
