You measure how "nice" car is by the changes it has gone through???????

Totally, I have been in a few. Nothing exciting..

What's funny is the interior shot of the vette has the HUD in it.
Heads up display which shows up on the windshield.

Even the NSX doesn't have that.

Once again, someone on the board who thinks their opinion is gold. And are speaking soley based on thier opinions.

Many testers (people who do this for a living) have outperformed the NSX in a Viper. Quite a few times now...

Do a search online.

EDIT:

I see you have driven both. I assume on a closed circuit track, or with measuring tools to come to your conclusions. Seat of your pants would be closer to accurate if you were a race car driver for a living.

The handling difference between the two cars is substantial. Even if you can't drive the viper to it's limit.

Because there far few NSXs made than are Vipers....hence exclusivity. Simple math..... The fact that the NSX is mid-engine....makes it exclusive...viper is just like a mustange that's just like a camareo....that's just like a vette....that's just like a z06..... NSX shares company with Ferrari, Zonda, McLaren, Porsche, Lambo.....

Power....if that's what gets you off then have at it....but you don't need to pay 86k for car that will pull 1.0g on the skid pad and put down 500hp....

You out handle and out pull....the NSX performs well in all catagories and out performs the viper in many others.

Newest bodystyle better than the NSX? Please.... viper is a muscle car....NSX is an EXOTIC....although something tells me you have a hard time understanding the difference...unless of course exotic means made on the west cost.

I'd LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to see you purchase the 94 NSX which i'm sure is running in FINE condition and then go ahead and upgrade it to be the '03....if it is AS easy as swaping taillights on a CL. Have at it!

Viper is CHEAP PLASTIC please man.....don't make it out to be bugatti....the viper is what it is but don't start comparing Z06/Viper interior to the hand stitched leather in the NSX.

Honda has been too lazy.........riiiiiight

the Viper has more than double the power of an NSX

the Viper will out-power and out-handle an NSX in any performance test under the sun.

the Viper (especially the newest body style) is much better looking than the VERY dated (but admittedly, still stylish) NSX that has needed an overhaul for 5+ years now.

The NSX (as i already have pointed out) can be had for less than 30,000 dollars and it will look identical to a 2000-2002 model year NSX (with some very very minor details that can me upgraded similar to CL-S owners upgrading to 03 taillights)

the Viper is produced in very low production numbers to maintain exclusivity (LOWER production numbers than the NSX in fact)

the Viper is a much rarer occurance to see on the road than an NSX. (hell, even in milwaukee, theres quite a few NSX's and VERY few Vipers, even older vipers are rare)

the Viper is far from "cheap plastic, mass produced, dime a dozen" the amount of R&D and engineering that went into the viper, and the new gen viper easily equal or surpass all the R&D that went into the NSX almost 15 years ago. Honda has been too lazy to do anything to it besides lose the pop-up headlights and tweak 20 more HP...big deal.

i would LOVE to see some type of example of how the NSX is a better car or more exclusive car than a Viper. and i dont want to hear the "hand made" BS.

please, enlighten me.

Even though it's Acura's fault for not updating the NSX more in its life, I'm not convinced it's entirely fair to compare a Gen 1 NSX to the Gen 2 Viper. Just look at how much the Viper improved in it's latest relase. If Acura continues to build the NSX lets compare them when it gets a significant redesign, not just a refresh.

BTW, does anyone have the weight specs of the Zinardi NSX? It was a couple hundred pounds lighter if I remember.

Not exactly... Hey maybe they got it right the first time. The technology of 1991 was pretty good. Heck, maybe they should have stuck w/ the 5spd too

All i'm saying is that the NSX was a kick as car when it was introduced. We wouldn't even be having a discussion of which car was better (NSX, GT3, Z06) if it was still 1991. But, it's 2003, and there are alot of alternatives out there now.

If Honda/Acura would grow some balls, they would redesign the NSX into the flagship it once was. Now it's just another sportscar.

I think they believe there hasn't been a reason to update it. However comming soon they will be forced too.

It's also the cheapest of the exotics at 90k, and arguably has the worst interior.

I like the style, but it's really missing the "bang for you buck" theme honda has going. And the NSX really did hold too it at one point of time. Since then it's kind of been dethroned IMO.

I'm sure honda will come out with an engine/drivetrain update soon.

The Gen II was the RT/10 and GTS, the Gen III is the SRT10....and no the NSX should not be compared to it.

Plain and simple, the NSX needs a redesign and more power (especially if Honda wants to continue charging $90k for it).

The NSX has been losing a ton of sales to Porsche over the years.

This is the same thread that I started almost 2 years ago that alot of people got pissed at.

Is anyone trying to say the NSX is not an exotic? I dont believe so. Everyone pretty much agrees that it is. But people have to realize that everything that has been said is a FUCKING OPINION. If you cant deal with peoples opinions, grow the fuck up and go back to 1st grade. Im 20 years old and I dont see how some of you have had any success whatsoever in the business world acting like little bitches. To the majority who are actually doing this shit as this thread was intended, thank you.

Every car listed (cept the STI and EVO--Sorry dont like them, DONT GET OFFENDED) is a great car. I agree with most in saying that the NSX is outdated. Ive been in a few but never driven one but the thing that still kills me is how everyone can rave about the quality of the NSX when it has the same gauges as a 99 Civic SI. Exotic? Yes. Outdated and some "plastic and cheap parts?" YES. But still a great car.

The NSX is old in the tooth. It was a great car for it's time. It's still a great car, but nowhere near worth $90k compared to the performance you can get today for much less $$.

911 and Viper are a much better buy nowadays... Wait until the C6 comes around...

The NSX is an exotic, what makes it and makes people think it is NOT an exotic is it is badged a Honda/Acura (and most people don't wanna pay 60k let alone 90k for one) and it runs like an Accord (reliable as hell) and it just is and always has been low on power, though now it is a high 4 second car.

The car is all aluminim, mid-engine, one of the best handling cars OF ALL TIME and with the Skyline and Supra, Japanese BEST sports car.

Yes for 90k it is very overpriced and as much as I LOVE the 911, they are too. Porsche and the 911 has a brand the NSX can only dream about and that is why 99% of the buyers will not even look at the NSX.

Me, as much as I LOVE the 911, the NSX gets my vote.

oh and guess what the VIPER is an exotic. And the Viper is a wonderful car as well.

if an NSX is exotic then so is a DeLorean. there is NOTHING about the NSX that puts it easily into the EXOTIC classification. if mid-engine = exotic then so is a fucking PONTIAC FIERO.

dont get me wrong here, then NSX is a sweet ride, but its old, grossly underpowered, in need of a redesign and honda has done nothing about any of it besides do a MINOR COSMETIC facelift last year.

and YES, zapata, it is simple as hell to make a 93-94 NSX look identical to a pre-2003 (i.e. minus the facelift) NSX.

A Viper is everybit as much exotic if you are willing to stretch the boundaries of exotic low enough to include an NSX.

NSX = NEAR exotic

Ferrari, Lambo, McLarean, etc...THATS exotic

Nope - wrong

The Enthusiast model 350z I drive weighs 3,197 lbs. The Base weighs less around ~3150 lbs.

its funny how dash molesting entered this when the nsx has what looks like a 1980's interior. anywho, i don't see how thats a qualification in an 'exotic' anyways. sounds more like a weak attempt for the nsx lovers to get +1 point against something like a z06 or viper. this isn't a luxury car, this is about performance. the enzo has manual windows/bare bones interior, are people going to piss on that car, how bout a lotus elise interior? and please stop with the sorry excuse of "the nsx isn't about straight line speed". for one people know that/its the major complaint and also for when its redone and honda gives it boost in power it will be about straight line speed. then the people who said it wasn't about straight line speed will be trying to push the new nsx's straight line speed on everyone.

This thread is getting out of hand. People arguing about cars they'll probably never drive or own (except the few obvious folks). Sheesh!

Personally, when I have $90K+ to blow on a fun second car, I'll get that Lotus Esprit that I've wanted ever since I was in junior high in the mid-1970s.

...of couse a fine English car will never have the reliability of Honda. But what the hey. It's only money.

lol here we go again with this shit.........yes its true, i am the "assistant" manager........havent made it to that upper tier of management yet........and 20 feet at a time.......that'd be a negative.......as fast as a viper accelerates, i doubt i'd be able to get it up to 70mph in 20 feet

I think many of you like downloading and watching those videos from the guys at top gear right? you know, tiff, stig, and the gang. the british dudes that flog exotics, on their show, and do their own comparos. well when they tested the NSX, tiff noted that the car was "not a supercar", in his opinion, and was "too tame", and "too weak" for his taste! I just read a lot of "supercar" comments regarding the nsx, and I just thought i'd throw in top gear's opinion. they said quote: "a car just can't be considered a supercar, with a N/A V6!"

In my opinion, screw the honda nsx(90k for an acura badge?). I'll take an M3, mod it, and bank the rest as savings!

being bored at work i decided to read all 8 pages and i'm surprised that nobody brought up drifting. The NSX in a drift competition will put the viper to complete shame. All around speed, handling, raw horsepower its no contest the viper wins hands down. But quality and comfort the NSX takes that. If i had 90grand would i get an NSX...not a chance in hell. Its an amazing car but not for 90k. I would z06 it then put 10 into the z06 and it'd be a rocket. NSX is an amazing car, mid engine, rwd, amazing drift car....but lacking the power and performance it needs for the cars in its class. Viper....lacking daily driveability and honda build quality. Sick car if you want pure power, but the interior is iffy...depends on your taste

02 NSX

The '02 NSX, is completely amazing, everyone that is trashing the model and price know nothing about the performance and track responsiveness of the car. Get into one at track speed on a road course and then talk.

Considering the looks, they are anything but "dated". I have a Yellow '02 and drive it at tracks on the east coast, people have no clue what it even is, and it stops traffic wherever I take it!!!

ZO6's are common as dirt, and don't forget your gold chain and "wife-beater" when you go out driving.

The NSX is the ultimate exotic all-around best performer on the market. PERIOD......

ozzman.....obviously you are incredibly biased. you were one of the people who went out and spent 90k when they couldve had a much better car for the money so you registered here to make that post and boast about the car and talk it up like its the best car ever made.

i dont beleive for one second that it stops traffic. even out here in bumblefuck midwest, no one gives them much of a second glance, let alone STOP TRAFFIC

you must REALLY go to some tracks with frickin MORONS if no one knows what an NSX is...come on. dont insult our intelligence over here. the NSX has been around for over a DECADE and is virtually unchanged aside from the new facelift which is a minor facelift at that

and as far as performance. again....a Viper will all out slaughter an NSX any day of the week at any track and under any circumstances given equal drivers and equal track/weather conditions. A Z06 would do nearly the same. put 10k into suspension mods and minor power upgrades on a Z06, and it will be doing the same....slaughtering the NSX.

as far as the gold chains and wifebeater comment. we arent talking about 1984 corvettes, 1972 corvettes or even 1995 corvettes...we are talking about 2002-2003 Z06 vettes. people see a Z06 and they KNOW...this car is about performance. a 2003 Z06 is not about rollin around, mullet flappin in the wind listening to Journey.

i understand how you feel the need to defend your precious NSX as you are the owner of one. but please spare the BS defence. if you have any REAL and HONEST defense as to why the NSX is so great, please feel free to post it.

NSX gets my vote. I'm just a flat out Acura fan, can't help it.

then again, I haven't driven one, or a 911 turbo, or a viper, or a Z06, or pretty much any exotic car. I just go off what I see and read.

good thread, suprised its not in the shitter yet.

Somehow I think this is somebody who just registered to act like he owned the NSX but really doesnt. Notice the post count and the date registered.
