2003 CL 6speed Engine

Hello guys,

I'm in the process of locating an 03 6speed J32 engine and I had a few questions. First off, do any of you tech guys know if there is a difference between the different years from 01-03 CL engines? The reason I ask is because the dealership has different part numbers for 02 to 03 engines. Also, 03 J32 auto engines are listed with different part numbers compared to 03 6speed engines. As far as I know, nothing changed in any of the engines from 01-03, can anyone help me figure this out? Thanks ahead of time for any help.

-Robert

I recommend doing a search. This subject has been brought up a number of times and I think a few of your question have been addressed. However, I don't remember any details.

From perusing the Helm manual a few times I don't think there's any difference between the block or the internals, but there are other differences in the engine bay, such as a different throttle body assembly (no VSA on the 6MT) , different motor mounts, different transmission and transmission mounts (d'uh), etc.

You might want to go through the Helm manual with a fine tooth comb if you have a specific issue in mind.

Thanks for the replies, I tried searching for this information previously but didn't find that much. Does anyone know where I could locate an O3 engine? Besides car-parts.com. Thanks again for all the help guys.

Basically, I have a 6 Speed transmission sitting in my garage that I want to put into my 6th gen 98-02 accord and I'm wondering which engine would be compatible with the tranny. I know the 01-02 J32 will work, but should I look for an 03 J32 engine that was specifically a 6 speed engine??

as mention above, the engine internal and block should be similar, so just get whatever year available

The only difference I could think of with the engine may be with the additional engine mounts for the 6MT. This may have required some minor changes to the block to accommodate the mounts.

niz181 - Thanks for the help, but I'm interested in the J32A2 only, thank you though.

scalbert - Your help is always greatly appreciated. So do you think the additional mounts are completely necessary?

I just found a 03 J32A2 6speed engine for 2200, but I can get J32A2 auto engines for 1500. Hmm...any advice guys on what you would do?

With the 6MT, yes, they are nessesary. This car has enough torque and with the direct connection to the road is enough to shear the base mounts.
