why does everyone keep saying 250hp??

The only place where I read anything about HP #'s was from MT (which I tend to believe), which said it was staying at 200. I can see a bump of 15-20 at most.

I definitely think our CL is still a much better looking car IMO

what would all of you think of this car if it were in fact the new body style of the CL????? does that change your opinion on it?? what if the car in those pictures was really the 2004 CL-S??? how would your reactions change? would any of you trade in for it then???

well, its quite possible, and in fact, its quite probable that the new CL will be based on that car, seeing as how the current CL is jstu like the current accord...

damn and I thought the CL's rear tail lights looked like the mb SL500's tail, shit the new accord basically pulled it right off the MB and slapped in on the rear. Also the front headlights remind me of the nissan altima for some reason.

ERR take a look at the available options

If this is really the new North America destined, Accord Coupe, I have only one thing to say:

This car looks great.

Actually it looks better than great. I hope this is the one.

That probably means that if we are lucky enough to see a new gen of our CL, it will also look great.

The May issue of Motor Trend claimed the 200HP V6 would carry over from the 2002 model. Only four cylinders are getting a power boost. They are getting the 2.4L, new in the current CRV.

Man, I didn't even know they were coming out with a new Accord for '03. From the pics seen, the new coupe looks "ok". It's a fresh look for the Accord. But I definitely do not think it's going to harm the CL's image. I think somebody mentioned that NAVI was an option, but I didn't see it listed (maybe I missed it). But I'm sure the HP is not going to be there either on the new Accord.

Navi does not sell cars... the car sells itself.

If one really wanted, there are plenty of good aftermarket Navi's now--

I think the new 250hps 3.2l I-VTEC 6speed will have more torque since its the I-VTEC technology.

but damn, this new coupe might be faster than the CL-S 6speed
despite that Accord usually lighter than CL.....becuase of lower quality build.

but then the new accessories inside the car is awesome.

People will get used to the look eventually.beside that front is just a whole piece bumper.......I think there will be lots of aftermarket bumper kit out there.

The rear really resembles the rear of the 1992 Honda Civic Sedan I owned (besides the tail lens.)

You guys have to remember that Acura and Honda are working together. Say Honda does release a 3.2 250HP and 6Speed it is only part of the plan. The way I like to think of it is Honda is Acuras old stuff. So I am sure that you will see a totaly new design for Acura with even more HP in the next model year.

Except for the 5th Gen Accords, when has the Accord EVER looked good?

Heck I would have purchased a Galant over my 6th Gen Accord 10 times over if my purchase was based solely on looks. The Galant styling is a million times better than the current Accord in my opinion. (Agree/disagree?)

I don't see why so many people here are getting there panties in a twist already. Acura's TOTAL sales for ALL their vehicles is a mere drop in the bucket compared to the sales for just the Civic or Accord. Honda isn't hurting themselves by making stuff that competes with Acura. Heck they will probably just sell a hell of lot more Accords as a result and maybe a few less Acura's from the minority of CL/TL owners that hang out on message boards.

I still believe that the majority of people that buy Acura's and have the complete "Acura" mentality, wouldn't be caught dead shopping for a car on a lowly Honda Dealership.

Acura = Best thing since sliced bread.
Honda = You next door neighbor's dog shia on your front lawn.

It is ugly but the current Accord looks just like the CLS

I agree that Honda's redesign is not going to fall too favorably on the mass market. However, the people who are complaining about how it looks close to the CLS need to take a look at the current Accord Coupe. The damn thing is EXACTLY like our car from the side. And from the rear, it's just got a different bumper and tail lights, otherwise, a very similar shape. Even the rims look like they were made from the same machine but only a little thinner.

I don't have a problem with the fact that they look alike, since it's the main reason that the Acura is so cheap in the first place.

i think the front end looks a lil bit like the RSX and the back end looks like a mix of Acura CL and MB SL. wierd. i like it. i'd take one. its a good thing i didnt get that 2002 Accord V6 cause that'll be dated, as opposed to the CL which will be dated in a year or so.

Not behind the car, look under the rear of the car, there is something that continues to protrude out the back. Something is not right about that picture.

Also has anyone noticed that the rear wheel is much smaller then the front? I think this photo is altered.

You can pretty much bet that the car will look like that when it hits the showroom floor. Automotive News is a highly respected trade publication and would not have put those photos on the front page without being absolutely certain that they were authentic. From what I can tell, it appears those pics were taken on Honda's campus in Torrance.

Yes, I noticed it too.

Ok, call me crazy, but it looks as if that contraption is attached to the chassis and pulling down on the rear of vehicle compressing the suspension. The rear wheels seem to have extreme negative camber (not vertical) compared to the front wheels.

This may explain the strange uneven wheel well/dropped look and different sized wheel appearance of the rear.
