2003 6 speed--damn u guys :)
So I just put down a deposit for a 2001 blk/blk cl-s---got it for 26,500(no navi) --and now, while looking to do research on my potential new baby I read a 6 speed is coming out in April? DOH! I would lovvve to have a 6 speed.....do you guys feel if I still got this car now and traded it in say in a year I would take a beating on it? or am I getting such a good deal that it shouldnt be too bad...just wondering...Is this a defintie thing btw? I remember reading a few months ago that the 6 speed was due out in fall 2001...obviously not a reality...is this another dream? can we have someone who works for acura chime in?
looking forward to my new CL-s and damn glad i found this page Dave

Keep your car! 1, you'll get destroyed on trade in. 2, you didn't get a great deal on your 2001. In the DC area you could have gotten a 2002 at about $100 over invoice. Sorry to rub it in, but just trying to give you an idea of what your trade will be like. Also consider that your car will be "less" desireable when the 6spd comes out. IMO, the biggest gripe CLS owners have is the no manual, if Acura remedies that, I would bet that they would produce more manual than autos.

dude, you didnt BUY your car yet. You just put a deposit down... its not like our cars come custom from factory when you order it.
Just have the dealer hold your deposit for the '03 6-spd.
It will be here in March. Who want's to buy a new car just before winter hits in Jersey anyway.
I say wait. Otherwise your gonna have regrets... and the last thing you want is regrets about a BRAND NEW CAR.
You WILL take a SEVERE beating on trade in, btw.

Plus, why would you get a 2001 when the 02's have been out for a while? Just get your money back, or come down to the DC area and pick up a 02 for $100 over invoice...if lucky, you'll get it at invoice. Here the TLS market just fucked the CLS market so who knows what you may get.

heres my logic...
I can get a new 2002 for about 500 over invoice here in jersey..BUT---this would be my main car and I would put a lot of miles on it....abot 18000 a year so I think having the extra year would be to my benefit....I cannot seem to get any dealer to commmit to getting the 6 speed though....so I was looking for confirmation from an official "acura" representative before I kill the deal. By the way...it should be no big deal getting my money back from dealer right? I put it on an amex card.

If you really really really really want a manual, then wait. You may or may not be able to get one in the spring, who knows as there could always be a last minute glitch that delays the car for a few months.
You would take a bath on a trade in within a year or two. Three years would not be that bad. The manual will not lower the value or desire of the auto's, there is a much smaller group of people who prefer manuals for an everyday commuter car (which is what the CLS is).
There is now talk of an increase in hp. Will it happen the same time as the manual, noone knows. But looking at the history of the CL, there will be kinks to be ironed out with the first year manuals. We also have no idea on how the gearing will be done, we may get 3 overdrive gears?
I am sitting tight, watching, and in no rush as I like SS for controlling the car in the twisties, and auto for my everyday driving.
