2003 6-speed Color Poll

This isn't scientific but we'll get an idea of the color distribution anyway.

How about some other meaningless data to complete the database:

Nighthawk Black Pearl with Parchment Interior
Navigation equipped

Build Date 3/02; Purchased 4/02

Issues:
  • no transmission issues (no 'notchiness' or clutch problems, no gear pop-outs)
  • consumed motor oil during infancy (about 1 quart in 1st 1000 miles; 1/2 quart in second 1000 miles; no further consumption)
  • moonroof squeek fixed under warranty
    no other squeeks or rattles
  • stock Michelin tire bubbled after 10K miles; replaced tires because of this

Will cross 14K miles this week.

I'm very, very happy with this car.

Agreed -- Red and White seem the be the most unusual six speed colors.

I once had a red car and loved it. I've always wanted a black car too, and that's where I am now.

A yellow sports car/roadster may be next!

They say that everyone should own at least one black car in their lifetime. [1] I've done that, and had always wanted a red sportscar with a tan interior

Yellow has always been on my list too, but I don't know if I have the guts to actually buy one. When I bought my CLS my brother commented that he didn't think I was a "red car" guy

One thing I know for sure is that I won't buy anymore white cars. My tbird is white, and I drove it for almost 9 years. I inherited my fathers white pontiac bonneville, and my brother has his white SuperCoupe stored in my garage. I've owned at least 3 white cars so no more

Top 3 CL 6MT colors...same top 3 I would have gotten. I really wanted a black 6-speed, but couldnt' find one with black interior. So all they had next was a silver one...which I was gonna get. But low and behold, dealer had an anthracite....looked nice so I chose that one!

I've only seen 1 other anthracite CL in my area....but couldn't tell if it was a 6-speed or not. I see a lot of silver CL's though.

mine is red too.
not my first choice. only 6 speed on the lot. a black one and a blue one would have been there 2 months later. I didn't want to wait, so I drove the red one home that day. at first I really didn't think it was "me" but its grown on me.

Mine is red..... very good color for the CL.
Who needs a point.. Its just fun.
No surprize about the answers. The color cattle herd in the USA is still buying silver and silver like colors (anthrocite). Its a matter of taste I guess.
25% of all new cars are silver. How boring.

You could say that again...

I had a black '01 CLS. From the second day I owned it, the paint was always an everyday concern. Dirt and scratches were my enemy. I could tell you a bunch of horror stories with my experiences with Acura dealerships messing with the paint and fender benders, parking lot dings, etc... but I won't... All I will say is everything shows up on black paint... as though it magnifies defects... I have to admit, black looks sweet when car is prepped correctly and all waxed out...

After almost 3 years of struggling with the paint, I traded her in for an Anthracite '03 CLS 6sp. Couldn't be happier with just the paint alone, not to mention, it's a MT... Anthracite paint is soooo much easier to maintain as compared to black...

anthracite is not silver-like at all, it's closer to black, and silver is closer to white.
I love anthracite because I first fell in love with BMW steel gray, MB pewter, Audi dolphin gray. My next car would still be a gray, never a regret.
