2003 6-speed Cl
If you baby the car too much during that first 500 miles... it will NEVER BE QUICK!!!
Ask anybody here who runs a 14.5 or better with just intake, header and maybe exhaust... I am sure NONE of them babied their car and romped on it from the get-go.
I think I redlined it within 100 miles... and the car hit 13.9 with intake and headers (and good tires, of ourse)... but anyways, my point is that these motors are already broken in... and how you drive it during that break-in period makes a difference in terms of
wear on the bearings and other metal-metal components. However... do break-in the brakes by the recommended method.
Several 1.5KRPM to 3KRPM runs in 6th gear will help break-in the rings... and change the oil after 500 miles. Check your compression after 500 miles and make sure its even throughout the 6 cylinders... if it is, you are set... if its not, take it back to the dealer and ask for a new motor!

Speaking of Navi, what is the chances that the Navi will be upgraded in '04 (assuming they don't cancel the CL in '04) to the current system in the Accord and MDX etc...?
I finally got to try out the newer Navi and I was VERY impressed. It's much faster than the Navi in the CL, and it redraws the maps at lightening speed compared to the old system. Acura claims it processes routes 4 times faster and it really shows....
Anyway, I just can't see Acura leaving the current system in the CL next year, but I wonder if they would redesign the dashboard to accomodate the bigger Navi screen if the CL is only gonna be around for another year ('04)?

hey, i travel a lot for work...sometimes i take my car, somtimes i fly (they pay for using your car, and the last time it paid off big time...$44/day to use my car that is fully paid for since purchase).
well, my last assignment in TX, I drove from home (pa)...I knew I needed a hotel for one night. No directions, no reservations, I just packed my stuff, got in my car, programmed in my hotel in San Antonio, and off I went.
When I knew I had to stop about halfway, I just chose on the navi the nearest hotel option, and 30min. later, I was asleep. Next day, I hit the previous destination option, picked S.A., and off I went again.
No preparations, nothing. And let me tell you how useful the navi is in S.A., especially during rush hour with accidents and stuff.
Same thing going home, no need to map anything, no need to find a hotel at the halfway point, nothing.

Well, I'll just step in to give you the happy non-navi point of view.
I did not get it.. and I don't regret it one bit. I drive the car back and forth to work everyday... and I know where I work... so I don't need a Navi for that. When I do go on a trip.. I use MapQuest or get directions from someone at my destination... never got lost and always make good time. The only thing I would want a Navi for is DVD movies with the convertor. For that I bought a monitor and will be buying a DVD player when the cash frees up. Getting that done will cost less then $300... still much cheaper then a Navi... so in the end.. I'm still happy I didnt buy it and glad I saved the ~$2k.....

Same people who moan about our resale value and then get a $2000 Navi that's worth about $300 now on resale. Get a map and use the 2 grand for headers, sways, konis and better rubber imho.Oh, congrats on the purchase and welcome !!
I dont have a navi, Im a girl, I know where the fuck I'm going (all my guy friends say I drive like a guy), and whenever I get into a guy's car that has navi....I think of him as a blind idiot who needs a computer voice telling him exactly where to turn. Not impressive...I like it when guys already KNOW where they are going. Waste of $$$...
Just think of it as "jeez..we've driven cars HOW long without Navi's and survived?" How much of little pampered babies are we when we NEED a navi. Damn

It's not that anybody NEEDS a navi. Of course anyone can find a way to get from point A to point B without a navi.
But it's a pretty high tech/cool way to get there.

Jeez! we've driven cars w/ less than 100hp for HOW long and survived? Acura, lower your power to save the environment!
Jeez! we've driven cars w/o power steering for HOW long and survived? Acura, get rid of power steering and help people get stronger arms!
Jeez! we've driven cars w/o ABS for HOW long and survived? Acura, get rid of ABS...my feet are fast enough!
Jeez! we've driven cars w/o stability control...
i can go on forever...
man, i should've bought a yugo and saved me some bucks.
When I bought my car I opted not to get the navi and I have no regrets. But I do have to say I liked the fan speed screens! However, what I based my decision on was the fact that you have to buy new dvd's to keep up to date with the maps and if you live in an area, like me, where new neighborhoods go in every day (so it seems)--I'd go broke trying to keep up with the latest maps. Plus I found the navi to be a pain in the ass to program. Long and short of it--its a neat toy but I'd never use it so I spent the $2k on something else.
...to each his own.

yeah, females can't drive anyway. if they had a navi, it'll just give them another thing to distract them so they drive even worse!
yeah, if you're a girl, don't get the navi.

yea, cause guys are pussies and need the reassurance of a comfortable navigation system-they dont know where the hell they are going or how the fuck to get there.

You will like the six speed CL-S. After 5 various GSRs and an RSX Type S, I test drove the CL-S.
Fortunately, I am able enough to afford this car (I really draw a "line" in my head above 30 large, this is getting pricey, IMHO).
I was used to driving rather small RSX and GSR's, I tried this thing because I didn't want to trade my 2002 rsx-s for a 2003 and only get "new car smell".
I wasn't behind the wheel of an 03 CL-S six speed demo for even five miles, when I KNEW I had to have the thing.
Think about that for a moment. What is the more gratifing purchase?
You test drive two different cars, one less expensive than the other. You mull the possibilities of setteling for a inferior car; your solace is a cheaper car payment, maybe by $20 to $50 per month.
The other car thrills you, but costs more, and is of higher quality. Let me tell you, the thrill remains for a long time.
I actually like being hooked by a test drive, as long as I know the cost of acquiring the car is reasonable.
Here is a comparo: Older brother got a Chrysler LHX, cheaper than the CL (and a four door). Fellow worker has a MB C320 sedan. Both are nice cars. Chrysler much cheaper than the tl, mercedex, much more. I rode in, drove all three, and I thought the Acura had the bang for the buck, brothers LHX destroyed itself sitting in the drive way, and the $14,000 more Mercedes, frequently wouldn't crank the starter, would not shift out of 1st gear (fixed now), but finally, decided to burn itself down in the garage, less than six months old.
Get the Acura, it is your best deal for the buck. P.S: I have spared you my nephews BMW 330CI horror stories. Look around this site, you will find them.
