2002+ keyless entry fob on a 2001 (Yes, I have read the FAQ)
I know its been asked hundreds of times before, and yes, I have read the faq. Have a few quick questions about the new style key fob:
1. Where can you get one for a reasonable price? I was at my dealer today for service, parts department wanted $85!
2. Is there anyone who has not been able to get the new fob to work on their 2001 CL? Parts guy made it quite clear that he wouldn't accept a return, want to make sure I'm not wasting my money.
It drives me nuts that my CL transmitter looks just like a Civic transmitter. I'd like to get the 2002 key fob, even better would be a conversion to the flip key/remote combo that Mercedes, VW, Audi, etc. have. Anyone tried making our keys fit into something like that?

YES they work.
I had one for my 2001 and I sold it recently for like 35-bucks.
I paid 45 from my dealer.
Call Park Avenue.
I believe they were selling them for like 45 plus shipping.
I was going to suggest Tim over on the TL site, but I see he now charges like 76 plus shipping.
Maybe they went up for some reason.

NOPE....I know for sure several people bought them at PAA for around 45.
If they’re charging THAT much, something must have changed.
Maybe Comptech is building them now.

Sweet, that must mean I'll get at least 10 HP out of this upgrade! I just hope I get Comptech stickers, too!
But seriously, I don't know if its worth $85 to me. $45, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Now I have to really think about it. At this point I'd be better off buying a carbon fiber sticker kit for it. Or maybe one of those "stone look" spraypaint kits...That would be funny.
I just feel sorry for the person who actually breaks or loses their transmitter and sees that price...
