Me and my friend got 2 CL-S both 5Automatic tranny. We were racing 3-4 times and he was like 2cars faster than me. My car 01 has mufflers and lowered his 03 stock. Do you know any idea why his faster???

 

d5 vs. gate shifting? VSA on vs. VSA off?

 

maybe his was tuned better?

both are rated at the same speeds.. same engine, same car, etc..

Maybe his launches were also better than yours too.

both was VSA off, used sportshift. He have 50k milles i have 80k milles

 

Yep, check your actuator. Very common for them to stop working.

is not about driver skills it is automatic transmission and strate road and we were trying maybe 5times

 

your mufflers probably only add about 2 hp. the manual should always win. He will get more power to the wheels because he is a manual. Also remember that he has six speeds compared to your 5. He will be geared differently. You will need more mods to beat him.

 

my bad both automatics! wow yeah skills is the problem. make sure you get all of 3rd gear and don't shift into 4th until 90mph

 

You can hold 3rd gear untill 105mph in an Auto...

 

that sux I put K&N filter changede my spark plugs and we try again he had me for about 2 cars from 0-90. The differents between our cars - I have mufflers, iridium spark plugs K&N filter comtech spring 225/45 fuzion 17 tires. him all stock except K&N filter. Both use vsa off and tiptronic! wtf????

There are a number of things that could be at work here . . . and sorry to say, driver skills do come in to play . . even with identically prepared cars . . . which I MUST say these cars are not identically prepared . . . they come off an assembly line and therefore there are slight variations that can results in one car being better than the next. Just ask some of the DFW thread guys about this . . . we've proven it on the street and track.

That said, I'll assume your driving skills are fairly equal, so you'll need to check the tune on your car . . as already mentioned . . coil packs, actuator, plugs, injectors, tranny, etc can result in a big difference.

Also, are you the original owner? How a car is broke in will also effect the performance. Break it in like a granny, drive it like a granny and when you want to run it . . . it'll perform like a granny.

What type of wheels do the 2 of you have? That can be a factor as well. Heavier wheels, heavier and taller tires will also effect the results.

Oh, and check the actuator . . . there's a thread on that so do a search.

meh, only the real motor heads like us really understand that . . . I try and try to explain all the finer points on this, but it's not until they take a ride with me . . then they see and feel the difference . . sigh

Here is the pic of our cars I have original 01 wheels and he have 03 Accord 6mt wheels. I feel like my car getting slow at high RPM. We switch cars and It was the same shit 03faster.

Thanks to evrebody I found out it was really the actuator! Now I have one more quection can I fix it if yes HOW??? or I have to change it??? dealer wants 150$. by the way I spent 40minutes to explain what is actuator to a part guy.

What is an actuator and how do I tell if it is broken?

* At 4100 RPM, the ECU signals a 12V actuator to open the secondary intake valve. If the actuator is broken, you're losing a fair amount of power in the mid-range RPMS.
* Click here for pics of the actuator in action.
* Note that some dealers are not even aware the actuator exists! So to get it fixed you should print out pictures/posts regarding the actuator and stuff it in the dealer's face. And/or show them how the actuator works on a non-broken Type-S.
* If the actuator needs to be ordered the Part name is: "Bypass Valve Actuator"

* If the engine is cold, and you turn the actuator by hand, you should hear a 'Thunk' sound near the top of the engine, and the secondary intake opens.

Still the same shit, change my actuator which didn't work, put 18"wheels with brand new tires (225/40) and he pulls on me like 2cars from 0-70. I had 1passenger he was alone.
