2001 CL Power Steering Pressure Hose Line
I am new to the community, new to automobile repairs, and I am wondering if by purchasing a dirt-cheat
13855038 Power Steering Pressure Hose Line for Acura TL CL 3.2L 2001
is maybe the cause of my new problem--a screeching sound coming from the Power Steering under the hood.
I paid $40.00 for the unit online (made in China), while the dealer was asking $400.00, and the local parts stores (2 of them)
sold the unit for $175.
A pal mechanic thinks its air in the Hose Line.
Is it possible that the cheat (dirt-cheat) hose could be the problem?
Just wondering ...
Advance thanks!

You've air in the lines. Open the reservoir cap, while the car is running, and turn the steering wheel from lock-to-lock several times to bleed air from the system. Fill as needed.
In regards to the 'dealer price', the highest online price I could find for that PS line (53713-S3M-A02) was $147.13. Therefore the one at the dealer you priced must have been gold plated.

are you getting a noise when it's cold that goes away after the car gets warm? this could indicate a need to replace the oring on the hose entering the pump from the reservoir.
Turning the steering wheel side to side full extent could take many turns. most put the car up on stands so the wheels don't wear flat spots. this also makes it easier to do when the engine is not running, which moves fluid through the loop slower and allows bubbles to exit fluid as it enters the reservoir.

Did you replace the oring for the hose leading into the pump? it sometimes leaks and the pump sucks air in since this is hose is under vacuum (it's a very common problem).

I am getting noise for up to an hour after warm-up.
Will do a Google Search on replacing the O-Ring (someone else did the repair work - not sure if he installed the O).
Another update, coming shortly.
Thanks a lot.

yeah...that's air in the system. if it goes away after an hour, that's because the metal parts of your power steering pump expand as the engine gets warmer and warmer, closing the gaps on that worn out seal and not allowing any more air in.
