2 Tint or not 2 Tint

I need your :2cents: !!!

I have a gold '01 CL and I live in Miami. The heat here is crazzzy. I would like to tint my windows to help keep the sun out. I was wondering if window tint would look good with gold.

If any other CLrs have pics of a gold CL (2nd gen) with tint, please post, It would really help me decide.

Thanks,
The Spazzz

LatinSmoke 01CL 07-07-2005 11:02 AM

It think it would look better with the windows tinted.

03 CL TypeS 07-07-2005 11:29 AM

Ditto.

All CL'S look better tinted than not, except the ABP... :(

"Whatchoo talking about Willis?"

I like how my ABP looks with tinted windows. Definately tint it.

joker714 07-07-2005 12:06 PM

You should totally Tint!

andyjl 07-07-2005 12:10 PM

i think any car looks bertter tinted

belcom 07-07-2005 12:16 PM

the question is which tint will look the best on a PDG

going to tint soon too, but not sure which tint or how dark to go

brianlin87 07-07-2005 12:16 PM

the only reason cars shouldn't tint are if they're show cars and they have something they want to show off in the interior in the rear - but i doubt you're going that route - so get ur car tinted

btsilver 07-07-2005 12:28 PM

You should get it tinted. 20% all around is best.

Donno man, I've seen pics and I don't like the black on blue contrast.

I kind of want to do it anyway just because it keeps the car cooler, protects the interior from UV rays, and gives me some privacy.

I think it looks great. Makes it look very sleek and classy. :2cents:

Lord Helmet 07-07-2005 01:35 PM

Spazz, is your car PDG or is it a Cl-p with the "sand" color? I think regular 20% tint looks good on PDG but I think i light bronze tint would look good on the sand color.

fuzzy02CLS 07-07-2005 01:43 PM

Do 15% smoke. You will be glad. Although in FL summers, even that doesn't really cut the heat if your interior is black.

labmeister 07-08-2005 04:53 AM

Definitely tint! And, go with the bronze.

Well, you're entitled to your own opinion. If you are unsure about tinting yours, don't do it too dark, so it's not as much of a contrast.

Rspec 07-08-2005 10:37 AM

I think a tint will look good with the color of ur car but i wouldnt go too dark just keep it between 35 to 20%

 Dont mean to go off topic but does anyone think it will be possible to put those blue windows from the mercedes into our CL kind of like swaping them out

I know, an opionion's like a poop-hole, everybody's got one.

I think if I do do it, it will be 15% all around because I like it dark. :toocool:

Very good choice. I had 20% on my last car and it was still a lil too light for me. So 15% was perfect. And it looks great on the ABP!

Joe's03cls-navi 07-08-2005 03:22 PM

TINT IT!!!!!!!!!!!

   :agree: :phat: :rockstar:  :victory:  :butthead:

Time For Sleeep 07-08-2005 04:25 PM

phitheta 07-08-2005 04:30 PM

how is everyone getting past inspection with tint below the legal limit? im going to be tinting again soon and ive never done below legal limit, but id like to if i knew more about it. legal limit in NC is 32% so ii'll be getting that, but id rather get 20-25%.

FL doesn't have inspection, or emmissions testing.

babyblue 07-09-2005 09:05 AM

Definitely Tint it... 20% all around would be the way to go...

spazzz2002 07-09-2005 09:50 AM

My car is the sand color... That bronze tint sounds interesting.... Going to check in to it. Thank guys (and gals)... This website is awesome and really helps.

Allout 07-09-2005 01:22 PM

Looks good

Now just lower it ;)

Allout 07-09-2005 01:25 PM

Definitely Tint it. Darkness depends on the person. Even if you go 50%, it's worth it for a subtle change. I like 20% on the rear and 35% on the sides so it doesn't look to :ghetto: Side benefit is to filter UV and protect your interior. I've had a car for almost 20 years and the tint has protected the interior from fading and degrading.

mattg 07-09-2005 02:48 PM

no tint = teh suck

tint = teh win

I've been staring at the H&R Sports & Illumina's in my garage for the past 6 months. Just not sure what route I want to take with this car. :whyme:

H&R Sport and Illuminas is a good combo. What else are you considering?

Joe5.0 07-09-2005 10:37 PM

My last DD I had springs/struts on and they def hurt the ride a bit, plus in the end it was money lost because not many people want a modded car. Just trying to think a little more long term, since I think my cl-s is nice enough to keep until its dead.

cogreat 07-10-2005 10:12 AM

tint it, check the law in florida about the tint % in ohio has to be 45 up i had a bmw tint at 35% got a couple ticket thats when i got pull over and they got to have a tint measure to give me a ticket, i think it will look good on gold, plus protect your inside from heat, Ill still tint below legal limit, they dont care about tinted window there busy eating donuts.

Chopsie 07-11-2005 03:06 PM

T1NT 1t d00d!!!!

CL-S Baller 07-11-2005 04:25 PM

Question #2
I have a OEM spoiler.... do i leave a spot open for the CHMSL or do i just tint over it? The spoiler already has a third brake light, and the one in the window is disconnected. Thanx

The Spazzz

Joe5.0 07-11-2005 10:29 PM

I removed my rear seat/rear deck so that they tinted over the 3rd brake light, tell them to do it, otherwise it'll look dumb.

I did a tint today on my PDG, 20% back and rear windows, and 35% sides. some metallic tint, reflects sun and heat somehow and total UV protection for myself and the leather. Looks pretty good, and has maximum visibility from the inside. Maybe I'll take some pics tomorrow and post.

well anyway, the guys at Tint King did the rear break light no problem without removing anything. therefore it can be done. Took them 1 hour to finish everything.
So I guess if they know what they're doing you don't have to remove the seat and rear deck.
