2 Questions....

I actually have two questions, so instead of posting in two seperate threads I might as well post in one. First one involves mechanical, seems as though I have a "burning" fluid smell seeping into my HVAC. I can smell it from just over the hood where the outside HVAC intake is, and with heat or a/c on it comes into the car. I'm not sure what it can be, since I don't see any fluids leaking. The smell dissipates when I start to drive. I also noticed the exhaust has a almost oil burning smell to it at idle, or after driving and then pulling into the garage. Not to mention the other day when I got on it with another guy riding my tail at night, during the 1st to 2nd shift I blew a nice cloud of smoke out the tail end. I managed to see it in the rear view thanks to his headlights. Power still seems to be there, so I'm not sure about piston ring seal issue. Any help would be great, or someone in the area with a compression guage maybe? My second question is, would I be able to mount and wire a aftermarket amp in place of the stock one, using exsisting power and speaker wiring? Nothing high powered, just something with a bit clearer sound, and little more power/bass kick to it with crisper highs.

dunno about the wiring or the burny smell (?oil seal), but as far as the exahust goes here's my :

if you don't rev the engine much when you drive, stuff builds up in the exhaust. when you accelerate hard into higher RPMs all that shit will blow out in a cloud. it's a dark red/brown, and once it's cleared out that won't happen anymore (until it builds up again). if you're worried that the engine is burning oil I would stick a finger in the tailpipe and feel for greasy soot (dry black deposits are normal) before I started running compression checks on a motor that wasn't missing, feeling weak or blowing oil smoke. good luck...
