1st post. Tranny issue maybe?

This is my first post on this forum. I have a 2001 CL with about 50000 miles on it. I never really had any issues with it until about a month ago. I have started to notice that sometimes when I accelerate from a complete stop my gear doesn’t wanna change. The RPM meter goes all the way to 5000 or 6000. Then I let go of gas and after a while the gear finally kicks it. But the car jerks. Any ideas what this problem might be?

Oh Crap.... Do I need to be scared??
In your opinion, will this be by any chance covered by Acura? or will I have to pay it out my own pocket?

That is how my first transmission went. You should be covered 100%, but it depends on when your 01 was actually made, some were made in 00. The transmission is covered for 7 years 9 months (from build date) or 109,000 miles, whichever comes first.

OK... just got off the phone with an Acura dealer nearby. Gave him my VIN number and he said my warranty expires in June. PHEW!!!!!!

He has asked me to bring it in... I have a problem though... I have to go out of town next week.. and I need my car for that... should I take a chance and take my car or drop it at the dealer and pay for the rental?

If you make an appointment, they should give you a rental/loaner.

Hmmmm... come to think of it.... what if the dealer is not able to replicate the problem while they are testing it? what then?

They shouldn't have too much trouble doing so, they know what to look for.

All the transmissions are rebuilt. They are in theory suppose to hold up better than the one you previously had.

my "new rebuilt" tranny is shitting again, i have less than a few thousand on it since they fixed it. now i am out of warranty by a month or so. i am trading in for a g35 tomorrow. i love the cl-s btu i shoulda held out for an 03 6mt. only auto car i ever owned and of course it has tranny problems. mine has started slipping again and i dont wantto have to foot the bill. the extension was good of them but i am shit scared to go beyond it.

probably my last acura since they no longer make coupes or anthign real "sporty"

Cool

LOL- yea i had sorta assumed ( dont ever do that) that i had a "new" tranny not rebuilt bc it had a brand new platwe and some writing on it when i got it on the lift. it must have been a plate or if not than whatever problem (shavings i believe depositing in the tarnny) was it must be happerning again.

i loved this car and have had nothgn but acuras my whole life. its a shame my first auto car left sucha a bad taste in my mouth. i put a downpayemtn on 2 g35 coupe sports today. cant deal with it tomrow i will pick up the G in the AM. the cl-s is classy and nice but i always worried abotu the tranny.

to new owners: i really opnly had sever problems one time and acura replaced the tranny at no charge however i worried abotu it and it never felt "perfect" btu then again i never had an auto car before so i dont know what to expect.

i cant wait for my 2.5 hour drive home tomrow in my new G35. i will miss acuras btu they dont make anything for "US" anymore. (unless you are a true baller and rock NSX-R)3

peace out acurazine its been real helpfuly being here but i will have to catch you at the next G35/acurazine Long Island Co-op.

The service ops manager just called me right now and tells me that that my rear brakes are going.... I asked him how much to fix them.... he says 400 just for the rear ones... tells me the roters need to be resurfaced.... Is that a good deal? Or should I take it to some other place like Just brakes or Manekie?

Wayyyyy too much for rear brakes. I bought new performance rotors and performance pads for under $200. Take it somewhere else and see if they even need replacement. If you have a jack and can take off the rear wheel you can see how much of the pad is left.
