In 67 when the 427 tri power Vette came out, it did 12.9 quarters BONE STOCK!!! The HP was WELL under rated so insurance companies wouldnt rape the owners. It was rated from the factory at 425. Rumors have it at close to 500 crank HP!!! That would put it close to this beast!!!! Can you imagine!!!!! The GOOD OL DAYS!!!!! No S/C, No Turbo, No FI, just raw power!!!

That's just 1 reason why the 427 was the greatest engine ever built and is impossible to find.

God I wish they would bring it back somehow.

The Z06 comes pretty damn close to those numbers w/ 405hp. The Z06 also has alot of the comfort features that we've become used to on new cars. AND the gas mileage is decent.

It's kinda funny how it took Chevy 35 years to get the current vette to be almost as fast as the 67

You really should add that in those 30 years for Chevy to get the same performance, much has changed. Running unleaded fuel and emitting 1/100 (if not more so) the emissions of the '67. Getting 2 - 3 times the fuel mileage of the '67, etc.

And the performance of the Z06 is well beyond that of the '67 427 Vette. Maybe straight line is similar with a slight edge to the Z06 (which is probably due to better tires). The turning and braking ability is much greater that a race prepped '67 Vette could have wished for
.

exactly, also, power was rated differently back in the old days.

Technology is a great thing, ain't it

Not to mention that the Z06 has to meet about 1400 (I'm not sure of the real number, but it's alot) different federal mandates (epa/dot) that the 60's cars didn't.
